Ziff-Davis' ZD Net available on AT&T Interchange Edition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Ziff-Davis Interactive today announced the immediate
commercial availability of ZD Net/AT&T Interchange Edition, an online
information service that combines comprehensive computing information with
the latest in online access technology. Previously known as Interchange
Computing during its Beta testing, ZD Net/AT&T Interchange Edition is one
of the first specialized online information services available on AT&T
Corp.'s Interchange Online Network(SM), which began offering services last
month.

ZD Net/AT&T Interchange Edition includes comprehensive product and industry
news, online companions to Ziff-Davis Publishing's magazines, information
about buying and using PCs, hundreds of interactive discussions, a library
of downloadable software, technical advice and tips from product experts,
and a searchable archive of more than 100 computing-related publications
dating back as far as 1986.

The service also includes "Companies Online," branded areas where more than
100 computer hardware and software companies will provide technical
support, productivity tips, software and product information. Participants
include Borland International, Broderbund Software, Dell, Digital
Equipment Corporation, IBM, Lotus Development Corporation, MAXIS,
Microsoft, NEC, Novell, Quarterdeck and WordPerfect Corporation.

To introduce users to ZD Net/AT&T Interchange Edition, ZDI is making
available a Charter Member Offer, priced at $5.00 per month through the
end of 1995, that includes membership in ZD Net/AT&T Interchange Edition
with five hours of access per month. The Charter Offer also includes
complimentary usage of The Washington Post's Digital Ink service on the
Interchange network. The offer is available to members who sign up through
October 1. Free sign-up kits are available (800-595-8555).

For members signing up after October 1, membership in ZD Net/AT&T
Interchange will be priced at $9.95 per month including five free hours of
access. Each additional hour costs $2.95. Some areas of the service carry
surcharges; however, there are no per-byte charges and no search or
per-document surcharges for the Ziff-Davis magazine archives.

"By combining our rich content with the innovative features of the
Interchange platform, we've created an online resource about computing
that's unrivaled in its depth, accessibility and community -- it's the new
coffee house for the computer enthusiast," said David Shnaider, vice
president and general manager of Ziff-Davis Interactive.

"The service helps members make better buying decisions, solve technical
support problems, stay on top of computer industry news and get the most
out of their personal computers," said Shnaider. "It also keeps them
connected with top computer journalists and product experts from
Ziff-Davis, as well as industry insiders from leading hardware and
software companies."

"If it's happening in computers, you'll hear about it on ZD Net first,"
said Ed Passarella, editorial director for ZD Net and former editor of
Ziff-Davis' PC Week."For example, PC Week posted the first story on ZD Net
about IBM's takeover bid of Lotus, at 10:23 a.m. on June 5, 1995."

"It's great to have ZD Net formally opening its doors on Interchange," said
Michael Kolowich, president of AT&T Interchange Online Network.
"Ziff-Davis Interactive is the pioneering and most successful
special-interest online publisher, and they've been instrumental in
working with us to help develop and refine the Interchange platform. ZD
Net/AT&T Interchange Edition really pushes the capabilities of our
platform to deliver a rich set of information, a great online experience
and terrific value for computer enthusiasts."

As part of their monthly membership, ZD Net/AT&T Interchange Edition
members automatically receive access to Interchange Central, a general
news and reference area of the Interchange network that includes global
news, sports, weather and financial information to supplement members'
special interest in computing. ZD Net members can also send and receive
email with each other as well as with members of other services on
Interchange, other popular electronic mail systems and anyone on the
Internet.

Because of the Interchange architecture, specifically the searching and
linking capabilities, ZDI's computing content is brought alive for members
in ways not possible with other online services. For example,
"at-a-glance" product reviews grids compile and graphically present
ratings from different magazines to give users a complete, one-screen
overview of a product category. Each review includes a live link to
related information, including articles, discussions, competitive reviews
and information on where to buy the products.

ZD Net/AT&T Interchange Edition requires an IBM PC or compatible (386
processor or above), Windows 3.1, VGA display (or better), 4 megabytes RAM
(8 MB recommended), 10 megabytes of free hard disk space. a
Windows-compatible mouse, and a 9600-bps or higher modem.

Hardware and software companies interested in participating in the
Companies Online program may contact Chris Gwynn at 617-225-3384. All
other publishers interested in publishing on ZD Net may call Ed Passarella
at 617-225-3210.

Ziff-Davis Interactive is the world's most complete and authoritative
online source of computing information. ZDI also offers versions of ZD Net
on the CompuServe, PRODIGY, eWorld and AppleLink online networks, serving
more than 285,000 members; and will offer a version of ZD Net on the
forthcoming Microsoft Network. ZDI in addition offers ZD Net/World Wide
Web Edition, an advertiser-supported site about computing on the
Internet's World Wide Web. The ZD Net product family is the most
successful special-interest online information service in the world and
one of the larger online information services overall.

Ziff-Davis Publishing publishes the leading magazines about computing,
including PC Magazine, PC Computing, PC Week, Computer Shopper, MacUser,
MacWEEK, Windows Sources, Computer Gaming World, Computer Life, Family PC
and Interctive Week in the U.S., as well as seven publications in Europe.
The company recently announced ZD Internet Life, which will be appearing
on newsstands this fall.
