America Online and Hachette Filipacchi Announce Major New Media/Interactive
Services Pact

Extending Exclusive Relationship to Enhance AOL Content, Collaborate on
CD-ROM Initiatives, and Explore New Ventures

Vienna, VA, July 24, 1995 -- America Online, Inc. announced today that
media giant Hachette Filipacchi Magazines (HFM) has renewed its exclusive
contract with the world's largest and fastest-growing online service
through the end of 1996, and that the two companies have forged a pact to
create enhanced online content and to explore new media opportunities
among the emerging technologies of CD-ROM and broadband delivery.

Ted Leonsis, President of America Online Services, Co, said, "Hachette
Filipacchi first entered cyberspace two years ago by becoming a media
partner with America Online. Now, they are the largest content provider to
AOL, and have just formed a New Media division that serves as a model for
other publishers. AOL has forged an alliance with Hachette Filipacchi New
Media to develop new products and extend the boundaries of interactive
publishing."

"We are extremely pleased with our relationship with America Online, which
is the most consumer friendly online service available and is experiencing
tremendous growth," said Paul DeBenedictis, President of Hachette
Filipacchi New Media. "We have received a very positive response from AOL
subscribers to our magazines online, and we look forward to offering them
additional titles as well as exciting new media products resulting from
our partnership with America Online."

Before the year's end, Hachette plans to bring more of its content online
through AOL and will work with the online service to develop new media.
HFM titles to debut on America Online will include Metropolitan Home,
Mirabella, Family Life, Car Stereo Review, Video, Car and Driver's Buyer's
Guide to New Cars, Road & Track Car Buyer's Guide, and Road & Track Truck
Buyer's Guide, as well as content from the Woman's Day Special Interest
Publications on such topics as home renovations, weekend projects and
fitness/health. The Woman's Day Special Interest Publications will appear
under Woman's Day Online, while Car and Driver Online will offer car and
truck buying information and Road & Track will also offer new car
information.

Current Hachette Filipacchi Magazines titles available on AOL are Car and
Driver, Road & Track, Elle, Woman's Day, Home, Flying, Popular
Photography, Stereo Review, Cycle World, Cycle World's Big Twin, and
Boating. Woman's Day, Home and Elle formed the first women's group

This New Media/Interactive Services pact extends to CD-ROM publishing
ventures between Hachette Filipacchi and America Online. The two
collaborated on Hachette Filipacchi's first CD-ROM called "Car and
Driver's '95 Buyer's Guide" which has been available in retail outlets
since May 1995. HFM and AOL forged an interactive link between the CD-ROM
and AOL, offering purchasers of the disc 10 free hours of Car and Driver
Online on America Online. In the future, they will work together to create
additional interactive links and utilize AOL's marketing and distribution
capabilities for original CD-ROM titles.
