Adobe ScreenReady for Macintosh Now Available

Mountain View, Calif. (July 17, 1995) (NASDAQ:ADBE) -- Adobe Systems
Incorporated today announced the availability of the Adobe ScreenReady
graphics utility package for the Apple Macintosh. Designed for graphic and
multimedia designers, presentation professionals, and video and animation
professionals, Adobe ScreenReady software simplifies and speeds the
process of bringing files and designs from popular applications into
multimedia authoring programs. Previously, it required six to eight steps
to ready files for the screen from an application for multi-media
production. Adobe ScreenReady software automatically rasterizes documents
and EPS files intended for use in presentations, film, video, animation
and CD-ROM authoring, accomplishing the task in as few as three steps.

"We used ScreenReady software in our first CD-ROM to create hundreds of
screens (PICT files) for the Buyers Guide, and frankly, I dont know how we
would have done the project without it. It was a lifesaver," said Paula
Wong, creative director of Interactive Catalog Corp. in Seattle, Wash.,
which develops technologies for interactive sales, marketing and shopping
tools. "Ours was a perfect PageMaker project with anti-alias text wrapped
around images for the screen that needed to be edited up until the very
last moment. But instead of handing the project off to a printer, we used
the ScreenReady PostScript process to create PICT files, and it worked
beautifully."

Adobe ScreenReady software comprises two components: a QuickDraw -based
driver and a PostScript language application. The QuickDraw component is a
chooser-level device that allows users to print one page or multiple pages
directly from popular applications such as Microsoft Word, Adobe
Illustrator or Adobe PageMaker , Macromedia FreeHand or QuarkXPress to a
PICT format.

The Adobe ScreenReady PostScript component is ideal for processing
PostScript language text and graphics. Intelligent batch processing of EPS
files make this component especially well suited for multiple users in a
production or workgroup environment.

With Adobe ScreenReady software, users can create high-quality,
anti-aliased text, graphics and entire screen layouts as anti-aliased PICT
files using familiar graphics or page layout applications. Users set
custom palettes by selecting the depth, resolution, anti-aliasing and
file-naming options that are most appropriate for their production.
