Ultimedia Adapters for MCA Boast Video/Audio

IBM's Ultimedia line of adapters now includes both video and audio cards.
The Video I/O Adapter attaches a VCR or camera to a workstation to support
videoconferencing, desktop video playback, security camera/installatment
monitoring, or desktop viewing of news or corporate video channels. The
card supports real-time video monitoring and single-frame image capture in
YUV (16-bit) or RGB (8- or 24-bit) color. It features both video input and
output for flexibility. The Video I/O Adapter and Guest Card together
require only one Micro Channel slot, eliminating the need to remove
graphics capability to make room for video.

To optimize the ability to store live video, the optional Video Guest Card
provides MJPEG compression of incoming video and MJPEG decompression of
outgoing video.

The 16-bit Ultimedia Audio Adapter offers technology for clear CD-quality
stereo sound. The card is marketed for business audio, desktop authoring,
presentation audio, and desktop collaboration. Audio can be sampled at any
of fourteen different rates from 5.51 KHz to 48.0 KHz, with support for
multiple file types and data formats. Four external connections are
provided for input from a microphone, CD player or other audio source, and
output to speakers or headphones.
