NEXT-GENERATION CRYSTALEYES2 3D STEREO EYEWEAR NOW AVAILABLE AT NEW LOW
PRICE

New Design Adds Product Performance, User Comfort, Higher Value at $595

San Rafael, CA -- May 15, 1995 -- StereoGraphics Corporation, the world's
leading supplier of three-dimensional electronic equipment, announced
today the availability of the next generation of its flagship product,
CrystalEyes2 3D stereo eyewear. CrystalEyes is the de facto industry
standard for professional stereo visualization.

The patented, lightweight CrystalEyes2 eyewear was redesigned for lower
cost, downward compatibility and comfort:

* New low cost. The new CrystalEyes2 is available now at a suggested retail
price of $595.00. For new users who require an emitter, the suggested
retail price is $795.00.

* Compatibility. The new CrystalEyes2 is downward compatible with the over
20,000 CrystalEyes units shipped worldwide to CAD, VR, chemical,
automotive, entertainment, and aerospace applications. No goggles or
head-mounted displays can make this claim.

* Greater comfort is achieved with a built-in silicone rubber nose bridge
pad which requires no user adjustments. In user tests, this was judged as
extremely comfortable, even for those who wear eyeglasses with
CrystalEyes2. Weight is another comfort factor. CrystalEyes2 weigh 93
grams (3.3 ounces), almost 50% less than goggles. Reduced weight is a
major factor in preventing fatigue when wearing eyewear.

* Folding temples provide users with a snug yet comfortable fit; opening
and closing the temples turns the eyewear on and off. This compactness
allows the glasses to be carried in a shirt pocket. Said Dick Martin,
StereoGraphics president and CEO, 'The stereo visualization market is
expanding exponentially. Our new CrystalEyes2 improves and dramatizes
viewing for a broad and diverse user universe. Its increased performance,
downward compatibility with the installed base, and greater comfort at a
new low cost, all support prime user needs, which opens the market even
more for us.'

StereoGraphics' patented, lightweight CrystalEyes2 glasses are designed for
untethered 3D stereo visualization linked with computer monitors, displays
and large-screen projection systems. CrystalEyes2 provides
high-resolution, realistic and flicker-free stereo viewing for scientific
visualization, animation, medical imaging, surgical endoscopy, molecular
modeling, computer games, photogrammetry, location-based entertainment,
motion simulation, inspection systems, remote vehicle control, flight
simulation, corporate presentations, and education and training.

StereoGraphics warrants products for one year, including parts and labor,
extensions are available. The firm markets domestically through OEMs and
resellers, and internationally through distributors in Europe and the Far
East, including Japan, Hong Kong and Korea, as well as the rest of the
world.

BACKGROUND: CRYSTALEYES2 3D TECHNOLOGY

CrystalEyes2 incorporate liquid crystal (LC) shutters that alternate
between transparent and opaque at 120 frames per second, synchronized with
a 120 Hz stereo-ready monitor using wireless, infrared signals. When the
left image is displayed, the left lens of the eyewear opens while the
right lens closes -channeling the appropriate image to the appropriate
eye. The result is a non-flickering, full-color, true stereo 3D image,
replicating the way people view their surroundings in the real world.

The proprietary infrared link between an emitter (mounted on the PC or
display) and the eyewear ensures compatibility between all CrystalEyes
products, past, present and future. Because CrystalEyes2 glasses are
synchronized with the displayed 3D stereo image, any number of users can
simultaneously view the display with complete freedom of movement.

StereoGraphics' patented Golden Nematic LC Shutter provides neutral light
transmission for CrystalEyes2 users who value color reproduction accuracy
and dynamic range. When 'closed,' CrystalEyes2's liquid-crystal shutters
are opaque to ensure that the unwanted half of the stereo pair doesn't
leak through, and when open, the shutters are transparent to ensure that
the overall image is realistically bright. Goggles and HMDs lack this
neutrality and clarity, and instead have shades of color top and bottom,
which spoils displayed color accuracy. Dynamic range, the principal
measure of 3D stereo optical quality, creates deeper, crisper,
easy-to-view images. The Nematic Shutter's dynamic range is typically
1000: 1, ten times better than any goggles. Dynamic range is exhibited by
CrystalEyes2's ghost-free quality. Ghosting causes user annoyance, fatigue
and lessened productivity. In addition, shutter components are instantly
activated for maximum performance, unlike goggles, which require about a
minute's warm-up time for full operating performance.

CrystalEyes2 Platform Compatibility. CrystalEyes2 products are available
with or for most major stereo-ready workstations, personal computers,
monitors and software programs. Platforms include such major workstation
OEMs as Silicon Graphics, Inc., Sun Microsystems, Digital Equipment Corp.,
Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Kubota Graphics Corp. Personal computers include
IBM PC and compatibles, Macintosh, Power Mac and Power PC, Amiga and NEC.
Stereo-ready monitors include NEC, Hitachi, Sony, Philips, Mitsubishi,
Radius, and Rasterops.

StereoGraphics Corp., founded in 1980, and the leading 3D market enabler,
invented and developed the market for modem stereo imaging hardware. Due
to its capability, reasonable price and state-of-the-art technology backed
by 15 patents, CrystalEyes is accepted as the industry standard for stereo
viewing. StereoGraphics is at 2171 East Francisco Boulevard, San Rafael,
