New Warp & Stacker Super Pack Bundle Announced

32-bit Operating System and Space Solution for Under $100*

SAN DIEGO, Calif., April 17, 1995 - Stac Electronics (NASDAQ:STAC), today
announced that Stacker** for OS/2 & DOS will be included in a new bundle
with IBM's OS/2** Warp. This special, limited time offer includes OS/2
Warp, the Warp BonusPak and Stacker 4.0 for OS/2 & DOS. The Warp & Stacker
Super Pack is available immediately and, for a limited time, also includes
a $30 rebate direct from IBM.

Warp's multi-tasking capabilities mean that users can run more applications
and run them more reliably than they can under either Windows or DOS.
Warp's crash protection ensures that if a single application fails, the
system remains up and running. The Warp BonusPak, a complete suite of
applications including a word processor, spreadsheet, database, PIM, fax
and Internet software, is also included as part of the bundle.

Stacker 4.0 for OS/2 & DOS is the latest release of Stac's award- winning
compression technology for OS/2. By taking advantage of improvements to
the patented Stac LZS** compression, and by adding Stac's SmartPack**
technology, Stacker 4.0 for OS/2 & DOS now matches the 2.5:1 compression
offered by Stacker 4.0 for Windows & DOS.

"Because of Stacker's average 2.5:1 compression, most users can install
Warp, the BonusPak, and Stacker, which together require nearly 100 MB, and
still have more free space left over than they started with," said Bruce
Behymer, Stac product manager. "And, of course, the bigger your drive, the
better it gets."

Stacker 4.0 for OS/2 and DOS now operates as much as four times faster than
previous versions, allowing users to gain more space without giving up
system performance. New safety and compatibility features have also been
added, as well as the Stacker Toolbox, which gives users quick and
convenient access to Stacker utilities from the OS/2 desktop. Stacker
installs drivers for both OS/2 and DOS, and supports OS/2's Dual Boot and
Boot Manager features, so that users can work with their compressed drives
under both OS/2 and DOS.

Stacker also recognizes and converts any of the popular compression
programs: DoubleSpace, DriveSpace, SuperStor/DS, and previous versions of
Stacker, to the 4.0 format. "This bundle provides the most cost- effective
way for the millions of users of DOS-based compression to try OS/2," added
Behymer. "And, it lets them do so with an ease and transparency that was
never available before."

Price and Availability

The bundle is now available on both CD-ROM and 3.5" floppy disk. People who
purchase the bundle in the U.S. before July 15 will qualify for a US$30
mail-in rebate directly from IBM, bringing the total cost of the package
to US$99.95.* The version of Warp is the Red Box version, which takes
advantage of a user's existing copy of Windows.

This bundle is available world-wide through direct and retail channels.
