PC INDUSTRY'S BEST KNOWN OBSERVERS WILL ADDRESS ATTENDEES AT OS/2 WORLD
CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION

Bill Machrone and William Zachmann Will Share Unpublished Predictions,
Up-To-The-Minute Analysis Of The Operating System Wars

San Francisco -- May 23, 1995 -- Miller Freeman, Inc. announced today that
two of the computer industry' s best known and most respected commentators
will deliver keynote addresses at the second annual OS/2 World Conference
and Exhibition, taking place July 17-20 at the Hynes Convention Center in
Boston. The speakers, Bill Machrone and William Zachmann, will share their
unpublished predictions and personal insights into the operating system
wars, and discuss the role of computers in today's society.

Mr. Machrone, vice president of technology for Ziff-Davis Publishing
Company, will discuss the global issues facing computer users and software
developers in his talk on July 19 at 6:00 p.m. At 11:30 a.m. on July 20,
Mr. Zachmann, president of Canopus Research, Inc., will examine "OS/2 vs.
Win-ever" in the context of the anticipated delivery of Windows 95.

Mr. Zachmann, who has introduced such phrases as "downsizing" and
"distributed resource systems" into the computing lexicon and is
well-known for accurately predicting famous successes and failures in the
computer industry, promises an up-to-the-minute contrast of OS/2 compared
with the promise of other operating systems.

"OS/2 is a terrific operating system and a lot of people are just beginning
to understand what it can really do," said Mr. Zachmann. "This year's OS/2
World Conference and Exhibition may well be the elbow in the upward curve
of the operating system's industry-wide acceptance."

Mr. Machrone, a featured columnist in PC MAGAZINE and PC WEEK, will address
the evolving acceptance of computer technologies and their impact on how
people work and live.

"Computerization is the latest manifestation of the industrial revolution,
and programming is the latest manifestation of craftsmanship," said Mr.
Machrone. "To understand how technology creates new paradigms faster than
people can absorb them, consider how it was once thought rude to have an
answering machine. Now it's rude not to have one."

The addition of Messrs. Machrone and Zachmann reinforces the world class
status of the OS/2 World Conference and Exhibition. More than 125 classes
will be offered during the four day conference, many taught by top
developers and technical experts from International Business Machines
Corporation (IBM). Exhibits by leading vendors of products and services
for the OS/2 market will include a 20 PC network where attendees can put
OS/2 Warp through its paces, and OS/2 and LAN Server 4.0 certification
testing. The exhibition and classes are also open to attendees of the
GUIDE Conference and Solutions Fair; which will be held at the Hynes
Convention Center simultaneously with OS/2 World. Additionally, John W.
Thompson, general manager of IBM's Marketing and Solution Developer
Program, will deliver the opening keynote address on Tuesday, July 18 at
5:00 p.m.

OS/2 World Conference & Exhibition, the only independent event 100-percent
devoted to IBM's OS/2 operating system, is presented by Miller Freeman,
Inc., one of the nation's largest producers of conferences and trade
exhibitions. The OS/2 World Conference & Exhibition is sponsored by OS/2
MAGAZINE, OS/2 DEVELOPER, LAN MAGAZINE and NETWORK VAR, and is produced in
cooperation with IBM's Personal Software Products Division. Other shows
presented by Miller Freeman include: Software Development, Autodesk
University Conference and Exhibition, MechanCAD, the Embedded System
Conferences, the PCB Design Conference and Surface Mount International:
Advanced Electronics Manufacturing Technologies.
