Galacticomm, Inc. ships Worldgroup interactive online software

Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- May 5, 1995 -- Galacticomm, Inc. began shipping its
client/server Worldgroup online interactive software this week. The
company estimates that 3,000 copies will go out to new and existing
customers by next week. Worldgroup is Galacticomm's second generation of
online service software, following its best-selling The Major BBS.

Modeled after the best of workgroup software and commercial online
services, Worldgroup delivers a client/server-based Windows interface to
the traditional BBS paradigm. The friendly multimedia-based interface can
be navigated by even the most novice of users. As a result, Galacticomm
President and CEO Scott Brinker says Worldgroup is targeted toward the
much broader business communications market. "Worldgroup provides a
communications model that brings the inside world and the outside world
together in a secure productive environment," Brinker says. "With the
click of an icon, organizations can network their entire business world
together online."

"I think Worldgroup is going to be incredible for our customers," says
Kevin Ehlers, system administrator for the Sioux City, S.D.-based computer
manufacturing corporation Gateway 2000, which runs an online technical
support system. "The majority of our market is first-time computer buyers
who also tend to be new to online services. Worldgroup is going to be a
nice entry point to cyberspace for them."

The freely-distributable client includes: e-mail, group message forums,
file libraries, multi-user teleconference, a polling facility, and more.
The client software, which currently runs under Windows 3.1, can access
the server over a dial-up modem or through the Internet. From inside the
company, employees can simply log on through their LAN. Support for X.25
and ISDN connections is also available.

The server runs on a single 486 or Pentium machine that can support well
over 100 simultaneous dial-up callers and up to 64 Internet connections.
With the client/server approach, local intelligence offers the benefits of
offline operation, dedicated processing power on the user's computer, and
multimedia capabilities with video and high-fidelity sound. In addition,
regular ASCII/ANSI/RIP callers can use the server in parallel.

The proliferation of Integrated Software Vendors (ISVs) developing for the
Galacticomm platform has resulted in hundreds of plug-and-play add-on
options, providing everything from photograph databases to credit card
verification utilities. With Worldgroup, ISVs can create applications in
Visual Basic, the friendly Windows-based development program.

Dean Kerl, president of DataSafe Publications, Albuquerque, N.M., is one
Galacticomm ISV who has harnessed the multimedia capabilities available
with Worldgroup's client/server architecture. The company's new
Marketplace($399) is ideal for classified ads or other online promotions.
Users can search through categories and bring up descriptions, photos, and
sound clips of the houses, job candidates, cars, etc., that meet their
requirements.

BSI Technologies of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. has also developed several
applications for Worldgroup. Message Central will automatically check the
users' e-mail at specific times, such as on the hour, every ten minutes,
etc., and notify the users when they've received new mail. The company has
also just released its Xbasic programmable database. It is currently
compatible with Worldgroup in terminal mode, and client support will be
available in four to eight weeks.

Entertainment applications include Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Logicom,
Inc.'s Guess What. The game is similar to "Wheel of Fortune" with a
real-time spinning wheel and cheers or booing sound effects telling users
whether they've guessed the right answer. Worldgroup will be compatible
with all add-on products that were written for The Major BBS. The list
price for Worldgroup is $795 with a street price of about $500.

Galacticomm is a privately held Fort Lauderdale corporation and has been
the leading developer of multi- user communications hardware and software
since 1985. The company also offers The Major BBS for UNIX for the UNIX
platform. Galacticomm's Network and Integration Services division, along
with a network of over 150 ISVs, can provide customized integration and
advanced off-the-shelf enhancements.

More than 22,000 sites worldwide have installed Galacticomm's platform.
