FULCRUM FEATURED AS KEY DEVELOPER FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE SERVER

FULCRUM IN MICROSOFT BOOTH AT EMA TO DEMO ADVANCED SEARCH AND RETRIEVAL
PRODUCT FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE SERVER

New Orleans, EMA Conference, Booth 201, May 8, 1995 -- Fulcrum Technologies
(NASDAQ: FULCF) today announced its participation in Microsoft
Corporation's booth (#201) at the Electronic Messaging Association show in
New Orleans, as one of a handful of "best-of-breed" software companies
currently developing products for Microsoft Exchange Server. Fulcrum will
demonstrate a product that will provide users of Microsoft Exchange Server
with advanced content-based searching and retrieval. With the working
title "Fulcrum Find", the product is based on the proven technology behind
Fulcrum's flagship text-retrieval product, SearchServer, which was ported
as a native product for the Microsoft Windows NT network operating system
at the end of 1994.

"We designed Microsoft Exchange Server to be a powerful information sharing
product," said Rob Shurtleff, general manager of the Workgroup Solutions
Product Unit at Microsoft. "To fully use information, it must be easy to
find across the extended corporation. That's where Fulcrum, a proven
leader in information retrieval, comes in. We think customers of Microsoft
Exchange will be as excited as we are by the possibilities of Fulcrum's
product."

"Fulcrum Find", still in development, will be integrated with both the
client and server components of Microsoft Exchange, and will provide
advanced content-based indexing and retrieval for folders, attachments and
form data. Fulcrum's product is suited to large-scale implementations
where huge volumes of data make the speed and high performance of a
searching engine so essential. Its advanced capabilities include Boolean
or structured-logic searching, the ability to use wildcards in queries,
the ranking of search results by their relevance, and search-term
highlighting. The product will also include Fulcrum's exclusive Intuitive
Searching feature, a way for users to ask the search engine to bring back
"more documents like this." In addition to its presence in the Microsoft
booth, Fulcrum is one of four Exchange developers whose products will be
featured by Microsoft in a break-out session at the conference.

Since 1983, Fulcrum Technologies has been a leading vendor of
text-retrieval software because of the strength of its core indexing and
searching engine, its open systems strategy, and its tools approach. Used
by large and medium-sized organizations, Fulcrum's software provides
access to corporate intellectual capital stored electronically, in
particular on client/server computer networks. Fulcrum customers include
Microsoft, Fujitsu, National Semiconductor, Florida Power and Banca di
Roma. Fulcrum's technology is also licensed for use in products offered by
Saros, Frame, Interleaf and Corel, among others. Headquartered in Ottawa,
Canada, Fulcrum is traded on the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol
"FULCF".
