CABLETRON BRINGS NETWORK MANAGEMENT REPORTING TO WORLDWIDE WEB PAGE

SPECTRUM Web-Based Reporting Application Automatically Delivers Daily
Customized Reports to IS Management

Rochester, NH -- May 16, 1995 -- Cabletron Systems (NYSE: CS) today
unveiled a new reporting application for its SPECTRUM advanced network
management platform allowing customers to view critical network management
trend reports. The first of its kind, the application automatically
generates reports on network use, uptime/downtime and overall performance
that can be viewed through an organization's World Wide Web server.

Cabletron's Web-Based network reporting application provides access to
standard, simple reports that can be viewed using any graphical browser
such as Mosaic or Netscape. Viewing the information on the Web eliminates
efforts to manually produce and distribute network performance reports and
provides critical network management information on any desktop PC.

"The new Web-based information system further supports Cabletron's
commitment to bring accountability to the cost of networking by giving
decision makers first-hand, daily information about the performance and
usage of their networks," said Patricia Chrystycz, Cabletron's director of
network management marketing.

The new SPECTRUM Web-based reporting feature will be available as a free
upgrade to existing SPECTRUM customers and included for new customers
purchasing the network management platform.

Cabletron's SPECTRUM 3.0, the industry's first distributed enterprise-wide
network management platform with a true client/server architecture, allows
multiple users at distributed sites to share a common network management
database. SPECTRUM was ranked third in worldwide enterprise management
platform shipments in 1993 and 1994, increasing from 8.5 percent of market
share in 1993 to 12 percent in 1994 (International Data Corporation,
1994).

The worldwide modular hub market leader (Dataquest, Incorporated, February
1995) and largest exclusive computer networking company, Cabletron employs
over 5,000 people and is headquartered in Rochester, New Hampshire.
Cabletron is ISO 9001-certified and develops, manufactures and markets
Ethernet, FDDI, Token Ring and ATM internetworking products and enterprise
network management software based on its Synthesisframework.

Cabletron directly services more than 70,000 customer sites around the
globe and provides 7 x 24 support coverage, with free phone support during
normal business hours. Cabletron's common stock is traded on the New York
Stock Exchange under the symbol CS. The company recently reported record
