Japanese Telecommunications Leader NTT to Introduce Japan's First Apple
Desktop Video Conferencing and Collaboration Product

Product to be Based on Apple Computer's QuickTime Conferencing Multimedia
Communications Solution

TOKYO, Japan--May 15, 1995--Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation
(NTT) today announced an affordable desktop multimedia communications
product for the Japanese market based on Apple's QuickTime Conferencing
and NTT's ISDN networking technology. NTT has positioned the product,
FM-A71, as an important addition to its FaceMate line of video
conferencing and collaboration solutions. It will allow users throughout
Japan to collaborate from their desktops by sharing the same screen images
using high- speed 64K bps ISDN lines.

This product, to be based on Apple's Power Macintosh, is designed to
include QuickTime Conferencing software, an H.320 ISDN adapter card, and a
color video camera. The FM-A71 is expected to be available at the end of
July 1995, and prototypes are planned to be demonstrated at the Tokyo
Business Show from May 16th through the 19th.

NTT has plans to incorporate a video communications protocol which will
allow FM-A71 users on a LAN to directly communicate with other H.320
standards-based video conferencing systems on ISDN in the next version of
the product.

"Apple and NTT share a common vision to develop an easy-to-use video
conferencing and collaboration system that will bring together the best of
the computer and telecommunications worlds," said John Floisand,
President, Apple Pacific, and Senior Vice President, Apple Computer, Inc.
"NTT's strong reputation and expertise in the Japanese telecommunications
market will provide an excellent complement to Apple's strengths in
multimedia communications."

QuickTime Conferencing is a cross-platform conferencing, collaboration and
multimedia communications technology that allows personal computer users
to share real-time information, images and sound anywhere in the world.
Users can share and annotate text, images, screen captures, sound, video
and virtual scenes among fellow conference participants. In addition,

QuickTime Conferencing allows users on a LAN to record conversations,
transform those conversations into QuickTime movies, and broadcast and
view multimedia content; ISDN users can also view multimedia content. And
because QuickTime Conferencing supports the H.320 standard, ISDN users
won't have to worry about whether their hardware equipment, networking
equipment or video conferencing applications are compatible with those
being used by other conference participants.

"NTT is happy to introduce the FM-A71 into the Japanese market as NTT's
first multimedia product of this kind. FM-A71's easy-to-use features and
NTT's three-year on-site service warranty will provide enhanced customer
satisfaction," said Keisuke Ogawa, Vice President, Visual Communications
Sector, NTT Corp. "This excellent product was realized through the synergy
of NTT's telecommunications expertise and Apple's multimedia expertise."

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), privatized in 1985,
provides a complete array of telecommunications services and products to
