Xerox And Toshiba Launch Japanese Version Of InConcert Workflow Software

PALO ALTO, Calif, February 13, 1995 - The XSoft division of Xerox
Corporation and Japan-based Toshiba Corporation today announced that
Toshiba will distribute InConcert, XSoft's powerful workflow management
software, to the Japanese market beginning in April 1995. Toshiba
localized InConcert for the Japanese market and will standardize on it as
the workflow engine for its WorkVision system. WorkVision is an integrated
software architecture for implementing enterprise office applications,
database connectivity, and network services.

Aimed at high-volume, process-intensive applications encompassing thousands
of users, InConcert models and coordinates all the components - people,
procedures, and documents - of a work process. The software improves
productivity by automatically delivering to users the documents,
applications, and procedural instructions they need to complete their
work. To manage business processes more effectively, InConcert provides
comprehensive process management and status reporting features so that
managers can easily track the progress of any job.

According to a recent study by Dataquest, a San Jose, California-based
research firm, the emerging market for workflow software in Japan is
projected at 53 million dollars in 1995 and expected to reach close to 135
million dollars by 1997. Early workflow adopters in Japan include the
insurance, utilities, and manufacturing industries, where organizations
are moving quickly to create more efficient business processes.

"We listened closely to Toshiba's requirements and those of their
customers," said David McQuilkin, Asia Pacific regional sales manager for
XSoft. "As in the United States, the key market demand is for open systems
and integration with other software products. InConcert is an ideal core
middleware component to realize the rigorous process control requirements
of CALS applications, which is a critical and growing market in Japan."

InConcert's open middleware framework allows organizations to accurately
model and effectively manage their unique business processes without
imposing pre-defined structures or rules. The software is designed for
flexibility and integration with industry standard SQL databases and other
software, enabling companies to integrate popular third-party applications
such as word processors, spreadsheets, image viewers, and electronic mail
into the overall process.

WorkVision is a next-generation office information processing environment
which provides a basis for total management and utilization of various
information and data resources with the aim of supporting intelligent
business processes of office workers. A variety of products are provided
by Toshiba under the WorkVision framework, including advanced electronic
mail systems, document processing and retrieval systems, and other
advanced document applications. The workflow management framework provides
an integrated work environment with a wide assortment of applications and
tools so as to enable both individuals and workgroups to manage processes
efficiently.

XSoft president Dennis Andrews stated, "Toshiba is an important partner for
XSoft in delivering InConcert to the emerging workflow market in Japan.
They have extensive expertise in enterprise business applications and have
demonstrated impressive growth in this market. We are very pleased that
Toshiba has chosen InConcert as the workflow component for its successful
