USDC, NEEDHAM AND ELECTRONIC BUYERS' NEWS ANNOUNCE INDUSTRY'S FIRST FLAT
PANEL DISPLAY INVESTMENT CONFERENCE

March 1, 1995
Hotel Inter-Continental
New York, NY

SAN JOSE, Calif., FEBRUARY 14, 1995--Industry's first major investment
conference focused on flat panel displays was announced today by the
United States Display Consortium (USDC), Needham & Company, Inc. and
Electronic Buyers' News (EBN). The three organizations are joining forces
to link the investment community with companies that have ventures in the
United States' flat panel display (FPD) manufacturing industry. The goal
of the event is to educate members of the financial and investment
community about this growing industry sector and its many opportunities.

The conference will feature presentations from all three sectors of the
flat panel display industry, namely current FPD manufacturers, future FPD
manufacturers and equipment and materials suppliers. The one-day forum for
institutional investors and analysts will be held March 1, 1995, from 7:30
a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel Inter-Continental in New York. A total of
21 U.S. flat panel display manufacturers, and equipment and materials
suppliers are slated to participate.

According to Byron Walker, managing director at Needham & Company,
"Analysts expect the worldwide FPD industry to reach $20 billion by the
end of the decade. The current momentum in this area, coupled with its
growth potential, is definitely catching the attention of the investment
community--yet many lack an understanding of the domestic infrastructure.
This forum will provide attendees with an overview of the domestic FPD
industry as well as information on progress to date, trends and future
potential.

EBN's Government and International News Editor, Jack Robertson, explained
that flat panel displays have created a paradigm shift in the way
computers, cockpits and other products requiring a visual interface are
designed and marketed. "With new applications for FPDs introduced every
day, this market is becoming increasingly vital to the global
competitiveness of the U.S. electronics industry."

Malcolm Thompson, chairman of the board for USDC, stated that the
conference will encourage financial support of the domestic display
industry. "This conference seeks not only to educate the investment
community about the FPD markets, but also to provide consortium members
access to financial markets. If This industry is to grow and flourish, it
will require significant investment from the financial community," said
Thompson.
