IBM's ThinkPad EasyServ Overnight Repair Option Goes Live

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jan.30, 1995 -- IBM today announced that overnight
repair for the ThinkPad series of products is now open for business.

The ThinkPad EasyServ Repair Option, announced in November and available in
the continental U.S., provides an additional repair option for U.S.
customers covered by an IBM warranty or an IBM Maintenance Service
contract.

This new service option for IBM mobile products targets the wide range of
business and professional users who rely on IBM products as essential
tools for their businesses.

The premium ThinkPad EasyServ option will allow owners to ship IBM mobile
products via FedEx from most locations in the continental U.S. and have
the repaired unit returned the next business day. Customers may also
specify a different return location; for example, a customer can ship his
mobile product from New York on Monday and get the repaired unit in Los
Angeles on Tuesday.

This next-day, premium repair service, marks a major enhancement of
ThinkPad EasyServ, which already provides convenient pickup-and-return
repair service.

To provide this overnight repair service, IBM will use the capabilities of
Technology Service Solutions (TSS), an IBM-Kodak joint venture set up to
provide support services for computer products and systems. TSS has
created a round-the-clock National Service Depot in Memphis working with
FedEx Logistics Services, a division of Federal Express Corporation, to
expedite the entire repair and shipment process.

"This unique repair service spells peace of mind for mobile product owners,
should they ever encounter a problem with the reliable IBM ThinkPad," said
Richard J. Hernandez, chief executive officer of Technology Service
Solutions.

Owners of IBM mobile products now have the assurance of knowing that
ThinkPad EasyServ is available on an overnight basis, even if they're
traveling across the country.

Standard ThinkPad EasyServ service, with an average turnaround of three
business days, is offered at no charge to customers with IBM mobile
products that are under warranty or IBM maintenance agreements. There will
be a charge of $99.00 (by credit card only) for premium ThinkPad EasyServ
next-day service.
