PC MANAGEMENT CURE FOR THE POST PENTIUMS BLUES

NETCENSUS 2.5--THE INVENTORY SOLUTION FOR ALL OF YOUR PCS

HANOVER, NH--January 31, 1995--Tally Systems Corp. today announced the
release of NetCensus version 2.5, a software package that automatically
tracks hardware and software components on networked and stand-alone
workstations. New to NetCensus is:

New features of NetCensus v2.5

* Pentium chip identification. Differentiates between chips
manufactured before December 1994 versus after December 1994
* Native OS/2 Collector
(similar to DOS/Windows and Macintosh Collectors)
* CD ROM drive recognition Video adapter recognition
* Enhanced brandname PC recognition

Pentium Identification and Differentiation

"Our customers are ecstatic about NetCensus' Pentium recognition. Right
now, most of their machines have original Pentium chips. NetCensus 2.5
will help them identify chips that need to be replaced right away," states
Ted Jastrzembski, president of Tally Systems. NetCensus differentiates
between "original Pentiums" and "Pentiums" manufactured after December
1994, allowing administrators simple answers to "Who has which Pentium and
what department are they in?"

OS/2 Collection

NetCensus 2.5's native OS/2 Collector takes full advantage of the OS/2
interface and multi-tasking capabilities. Like the DOS/Windows and
Macintosh Collectors, it collects detailed hardware and software data from
networked and stand-alone machines. OS/2 administrators will now be able
to conduct the collection portions of their inventories directly from
OS/2, allowing them to capture information that is critical to a thorough
and detailed inventory.

New Hardware Identification

Enhanced system recognition and the addition of CD ROM drive and video
adapter recognition provides organizations with an increased depth of
inventory detail. Additionally, new Collector enhancements make NetCensus
2.5 even faster and easier to run.

NetCensus Collects on All Major Platforms

NetCensus' customers benefit from an accurate inventory of hardware and
software that allows them to monitor changes, plan and budget for upgrades
and growth, find under-utilized PC components, and control use of
"nonstandard" and unauthorized software. NetCensus inventories DOS,
Windows, OS/2 and Macintosh computers, plus file servers on many different
network operating systems--resulting in complete inventory tracking from a
single database. The Software Publishers Association (SPA) accepts
NetCensus reports for the purpose of assessing software license
compliance.

NetCensus is NOS Independent

NetCensus supports interoperability between various networks in a
multi-vendor environment and is designed to operate over Novell, Banyan,
LAN Server or LAN Manager LANs with the correct permissions, or any PC LAN
that lets you pass DOS directories. NetCensus 2.5 requires an
IBM-compatible PC to serve as an administrative PC (486 preferred); 10 Mb
storage space on a hard disk or LAN server; 4 Mb RAM; a disk cache; DOS
3.3 or later; Windows 3.1.

Pricing and Availability

NetCensus 2.5 is currently shipping and is licensed on a per-PC basis.
Price is dependent on total number of PCs; for example, $15.95 per PC for
100 PCs and $12 per PC for 1000 PCs. Product Recognition Updates (PRUs)
and technical support (by phone, fax, BBS or e-mail) are free for one
year. Additionally, full-featured product upgrades are free for a year
with orders of 50 licenses or more.
