February 8, 1995 -- PolyVision officially announced today that it has
licensed a high quality text-to-speech synthesis module for its flagship
program TipTap Lite. The new module will allow users with _any_ 8-bit or
better Wave compatible soundboard to have TipTap speak back words. This
replaces the Monologue for Windows interface. The module will be available
with either 11kHz 8-bit or 22kHz 16-bit wave playback.

Also using the new module will be a robot typing tutor. The robot is an
animated character that teaches in 20 separate lessons the basics of
typing. It will be using a new section of the TipTap Lite interface.

Although the new module is state-of-the-art, TipTap will continue to use
its human voice sound data to teach phonics.

All current users of TipTap Lite version 1.2 will be getting a free upgrade
to version 2.0. The new version will suffer a price increase from the
current $19.95 to $24.95. The new version is expected to be available
within the next few weeks. Until then, version 1.2 will continue to be
available and honor the free upgrade.

TipTap Lite is a multimedia phonics, reading, and writing shareware
program. See the shareware version documentation and program files in the
PC and Educational forums to learn more about TipTap Lite.
