NEW DOCKING STATION FOR PERCON PT 2000 PROVIDES CONVENIENT DATA TRANSFER
AND BATTERY RECHARGING

February 2, 1995 -- EUGENE, OR - Percon announces today a convenient
alternative for transmitting data to and from the Percon PT 2000--the PT
Dock.

To use the PT Dock, the user must first attach the provided adapter to the
bottom of the PT 2000. Then, instead of attaching a cable to recharge the
PT 2000's NiCad batteries or transmit data to and from the PT 2000, the
user simply places the unit into the dock, and presses the upload key.

Data is transmitted in seconds. When data transfer is complete, the PT 2000
may be removed from the dock for additional scanning.

When uploading or downloading information, a serial cable is connected from
the PT Dock to the host computer. IBM AT, PS/2, and terminal keyboard
wedge configurations are also available, and require an additional cable
to connect the PT Dock between the keyboard and host computer. This
configuration allows the user to use the PT 2000 as a fixed-station
scanning device, with the option to remove it from the PT Dock at any time
for portable scanning.

Two options are available for power: a 110-volt or 220-volt power supply.
The PT 2000's NiCad batteries and 10-day lithium back up battery can be
fully recharged within eight hours of placing the PT 2000 in the PT Dock.
When using the PT Dock in the keyboard wedge configuration, power is drawn
from the host computer and no power supply is necessary.

Constructed from an industrial, high-strength polycarbonate blend plastic
and an extruded aluminum base, the PT Dock is chemical and splash
resistant. A dual LED display on the front of the unit indicates if the
NiCad batteries are recharging or if the PT 2000 is properly seated in the
unit.

The PT Dock comes complete with a one-year warranty. Extended and OnSite
Replacement warranties are also available. List price for the PT Dock is
$199 and includes the unit, PT 2000 adapter, and instruction guide. Power
supply and cables must be purchased separately.
