PACER SOFTWARE RELEASES VERSION 3.0 OF ITS MACINTOSH FILE, PRINT SERVING
SOFTWARE

PacerShare, PacerPrint Offers Unlimited Sessions, NIS Integration

WESTBOROUGH, MA, Feb. 6, 1995 -- Pacer Software, Inc. announced today
Version 3.0 of its PacerShare and PacerPrint file and print serving
products, featuring unlimited simultaneous user sessions and increased NIS
integration. PacerShare and PacerPrint enable Macintosh networks to be
successfully integrated with high-performance UNIX servers using industry
standards.

The unlimited user sessions feature eliminates restrictions placed on high
concurrent usage sites, while NIS integration dramatically reduces
password and user administration by centralizing these functions in a
single name server.

According to David Hudson, Pacer Software vice president of sales and
marketing, "PacerShare and PacerPrint Version 3.0 is an important
enhancement because it will reduce the overall administration of the
product while broadening its potential use."

PacerShare and PacerPrint Version 3.0, includes the following
enhancements:

PacerShare
- Customers will be able to make an unlimited number of simultaneous
  connections.
- PacerShare users whose UNIX account is managed by NIS, will be able
to manage their NIS passwords from their desktop.
- PacerShare users who log on and remain idle are taking up system
resources. Inactive users will be warned, then automatically logged
  out. This feature is configurable.
- HP/UX systems will be configurable to run with file names of either
  14 or 255 characters.

PacerPrint
- PPD file integration will improve the speed and font-handling of
  PostScript printing.
- IP printer support will allow customers to set up spoolers to
  printers that communicate via TCP/IP.

PacerShare is an AFP 2.1-compliant implementation of AppleTalk Filing
Protocol (AFP) that lets Macintosh users mount directories as if they were
Macintosh volumes. Clients access the PacerShare file server via Apple's
standard AppleShare client software.

PacerPrint integrates Macintosh and UNIX printing resources by allowing
Macintosh users to print directly to UNIX server print queues as if they
were Apple LaserWriter or HP LaserJet families. Sites can design a network
topology that makes printers simultaneously accessible to host and
Macintosh print jobs.

PacerShare provides complete interoperability with PC-NFS, PATHWORKS for
UNIX, NetWare for UNIX and LAN Manager for UNIX. This high level of
compatibility lets system managers integrate file sharing services for
Macintosh, DOS, Windows and UNIX users on a single high-performance
server.

PacerShare and PacerPrint 3.0 will be available in April starting at $3,000
for a 20-user license. The product will be sent free of charge to all
corporate and educational customers under maintenance contract. Pacer
Share and PacerPrint are available by calling Pacer Software at
508/898-3300.
