PACER'S ODBC-COMPLIANT DESKTOP-TO-UNIX DATABASE CONNECTIVITY TOOL OFFERED
TO WINDOWS USERS

DAL Server for UNIX Version 1.5 Also Features DB2 Access

WESTBOROUGH, MA, Feb. 6, 1995 -- Pacer Software, Inc. announced today
Version 1.5 of its DAL Server for UNIX, which now offers Windows users the
same high level of data access that Macintosh users have had to
information contained in UNIX data base systems. This is accomplished by
providing support for both DAL and ODBC application programming interfaces
(APIs). With DAL for UNIX 1.5, customers can now use desktop applications,
such as Microsoft Excel, Lotus Development Corp. 1-2-3 and Blyth
Software's Omnis 7, to directly access key decision support data contained
in UNIX databases -- all from their desktop of choice.

In addition, the company announced Version 1.5 provides an adapter for IBM
DB2 UNIX database environments. DB2 access means that DAL Server for UNIX
users can now easily access data from a complete selection of popular
relational databases, including DB2, Informix, Ingres, Oracle and Sybase.

"Pacer's DAL Server for UNIX provides more access methods to database
management systems on a wider selection of computers than any other data
access technology available," said David Hudson, Pacer Software vice
president of sales and marketing. "This is important to customers
operating in open systems environments, who need flexibility to access
data regardless of which desktop machine is being used or popular
relational database the information may be stored in."

"IBM is committed to partnerships with industry-leading client/server
software providers to ensure the delivery of open systems solutions to our
customers," said Janet Perna, director of database technology, IBM
Software Solutions. "DAL's interface for accessing data from DB2 for AIX
will enhance productivity and help users leverage information for a
competitive business advantage."

DAL Server for UNIX allows Macintosh and Windows users to access
information without having to understand UNIX programming or networking.
DAL insulates users from the complexities of today's multi-vendor
information systems to enable easy access. Data reporting and analysis
applications become independent of the network connection, server
platform, DBMS and SQL dialect being used.

Pacer's DAL Servers supply a fully integrated middleware solution that runs
on the leading operating systems, including SunSoft Solaris,
Hewlett-Packard Co. HP-UX, Digital Equipment Corp. OSF/1 and IBM AIX.

DAL Server for UNIX 1.5 will be available in April starting at $4,000. The
product will be sent free of charge to all corporate and educational
customers under maintenance contract. DAL Server is available by calling
Pacer Software at 508/898-3300.
