nu/TPU v4.1 Update Shipping

February 21, 1995, Bedford, NH - a/Soft Development, Inc. is now shipping
nu/TPU v4.1, an update to its popular multi-platform text editor for UNIX,
DOS, and Windows NT. nu/TPU offers developers a welcome alternative to the
limited functionality of vi, the often confusing EMACS, or the inadequate
editors that come with their operating systems.

Version 4.1 brings a host of improvements and added functionality to the
editor, especially in the Motif, MS Windows, and Windows NT versions.
These interfaces have been redesigned, resulting in a polished, easy to
use editing environment. For example, a new command dialog has been
created that will allow users to decide where the command line will be
located in their editing windows. A new find dialog makes searches a snap,
with everything needed at the user's fingertips, including a find
attributes dialog. A new system attributes dialog shows users all the
attributes and their settings, and allows them to be controlled from
within the dialog with a click of the mouse or a tap on the keyboard. The
Motif version can now handle multi-processing; users can create one or
more sub-processes simultaneously and communicate with them.

Another new feature of nu/TPU v4.1 is that font and colors can be set right
from within the editor during a session by specifying the desired
variables in a new dialog Font style and font size are user-definable.
Column modes of 80- and 132-width are supported in nu/TPU v4.1. A
significant increase in processing speed will also be noticed

There are a number of useful changes in nu/TPU's help facility. A new
keypad help dialog with push buttons makes retrieving information on
specific keys a cinch. The new, separate help window enables users to
obtain help on topics in a unique help window while still having full view
of their edit window. A simple request for help on a specified subject
will bring up a description of the topic, along with related topics,
examples, default key bindings, and command line abbreviations if
applicable. The MS Windows version now uses the Microsoft help text
facility for consistency with other MS Windows applications.
