Special Value to Engineers Who Make the Switch

MICROSIM CORPORATION ANNOUNCES MICROSIM SCHEMATICS FOR WINDOWS

February 17, 1995 -- IRVINE, Calif. -- MicroSim Corporation, a leader in
Windows electronic design automation software, today introduced MicroSim
Schematics for Windows, a full-featured Windows schematic capture package.
The new package is available at an exceptionally low price of $ 199 ($260
international) for competitive upgrades as an incentive for designers to
switch over from other schematic entry products.

MicroSim, known for PSpice simulation software, is using price to expand
into the Windows Schematic entry software market. "MicroSim Schematics for
Windows is the first truly shrink-wrapped EDA software sold at a Windows
shrink-wrapped software price," said Wolfram Blume, MicroSim president.
"MicroSim's new product is the perfect upgrade for CADSTAR, OrCAD, PADS.
P-CAD, and TangoPRO users."

For first time users, the schematic entry software is available at an
introductory price of $479 ($625 international), less than half the price
tag of other schematic capture programs on the market today.

"Compared to other schematic entry software, the designer can create a
schematic design in a fraction of the time with MicroSim Schematics," said
Ian Wilson, MicroSim vice president of engineering. "DOS users of CADSTAR,
OrCAD, PADS, P-CAD and TangoPRO will benefit from the new package's ease
of use and efficiency. The efficiency comes from the Windows graphical
user interface and our focus on schematic design efficiency. not just
features."

To make the switch easier for OrCAD users, MicroSim Schematics includes an
OrCAD translator to convert OrCAD symbol libraries and schematic diagrams
into the MicroSim Schematics format.

MicroSim Schematics is an integral part of the MicroSim family of powerful,
integrated products for printed circuit board (PCB) design, signal
integrity analysis (MicroSim Polaris), mixed analog and digital simulation
(MicroSim PSpice or MicroSim PSpice A/D), PLD synthesis (MicroSim PLSyn),
logic simulation (MicroSim PLogic), and analog performance optimization
(MicroSim PSpice Optimizer). MicroSim's most recent products include
MicroSim PCBoards and MicroSim PCBoards with Autorouter for Windows.

All of MicroSim' s Windows EDA products, including MicroSim Schematics, run
on both Windows 3.1 and Windows NT platforms, offering designers an
intuitive environment with pull-down menus and dialog boxes. The product
is the sixth Windows release of MicroSim Schematics.

MicroSim Schematics for Windows was originally released in 1991 for use
with other MicroSim design tools. The latest release of the reliable,
proven product includes enhancements designed to meet the demanding needs
of PCB designers using PCB packages from MicroSim, Accel TangoPRO,
CADSTAR, OrCAD, PADS, P-CAD, Protel, and SCICARDS.

MicroSim Schematics for Windows offers a wide range of features including a
symbol library of over 32,000 components, support for flat and unlimited
levels of hierarchy in designs, multiple windows, simultaneous views of
the same or different schematics, integrated symbol and package editing,
unlimited number of pages per schematic and schematics per design, bill of
material reporting, and backward ECO support. MicroSim Schematics can
generate PCB layout netlist formats for Accel TangoPRO, CADSTAR, PADS,
P-CAD, Protel, SCICARDS, and EDIF 2 0 0. The package ships without a
security plug to provide users more convenience.

The Windows environment is ideal for creating design documentation by using
standard Windows features such as cut and paste. By taking advantage of
the low introductory price to move up to Windows, designers can use other
Windows electronic design automation (EDA) software from MicroSim, and
other EDA vendors.

MicroSim Schematics is available for Windows 3.1, Windows NT, Sun, and HP.
MicroSim offers investment protection with a 100 percent trade-up credit
towards other MicroSim products when the software is maintained at the
current release.

The company breaks from the norm and keeps prices affordable by selling
high-quality, shrink-wrapped products directly to customers instead of
relying on an expensive sales force. As a result, MicroSim is able to sell
an entire line of products, including MicroSim Schematics and the popular
MicroSim PSpice, at prices 30 to 80 percent less than other companies.

MicroSim products are available for Microsoft Windows, Windows NT, DOS,
Sun, and HP. Windows prices range from $199 to $7,900 ($260 to $10,250
international); Sun and HP prices range from $1,479 to $15,900 ($1,925 to
$20,700 international).

"We've found that MicroSim customers are more comfortable dealing with
engineers rather than salespeople," said Blume. "MicroSim software is so
easy to learn and use that we don' t require a fleet of salespeople to
explain it to users."
