IBM Equips G7 Press Centre

BRUSSELS, Belgium, February 23, 1995 . . . At the request of the European
Commission, IBM will provide computers, software and services for
journalists covering this weekend's Group of Seven (G7) conference on the
information society.

Over 1,000 journalists are expected to cover the first high-level meeting
here focusing on the legal, technical and societal implications of the
information society.

At the G7 press centre, which opens on February 24, journalists will have
access to more than 100 IBM ThinkPad 755* laptop computers. The computers
will be loaded with OS/2 Warp*, providing access to the Internet via the
IBM Global Network. Journalists will also have access to key European
Union databases, wire services and "G7 LIVE," an IBM-sponsored electronic
magazine about the conference, via the IBM Global Network.

Governments understand they have a key role to play in facilitating the
development of a global information infrastructure," said Lucio Stanca,
chief executive and chairman, IBM Europe. "IBM is pleased to provide the

international event."
