HP RELEASES UPGRADE TO COLORADO BACKUP FOR WINDOWS; ADDS SUPPORT FOR CONNER
AND IOMEGA DRIVES

New Version of Backup Software to Ship with Colorado High-capacity
Minicartridge Drives

Palo Alto, California. February 1, 1995 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today
announced an upgrade to its Colorado Backup for Windows software. Release
2.5, from HP's Colorado Memory Systems division, adds support for Conner
and Iomega QIC-80 and QIC-3010-MC tape drives. It also includes
streamlined configuration and installation, plus the addition of icons for
"one-button backup."

Effective with Release 2.5, the full-featured version of Colorado Backup
for Windows will be included with the division's Jumbo 700 and Trakker 700
tape backup systems as well as the newly introduced Jumbo 1400 system.
Previously, a version with basic features -- Colorado Backup for Windows
Lite -- shipped with the 700 series drives.

"With Release 2.5, Windows users can standardize on a single backup
interface, whether they're using Colorado backup systems or compatible
drives from other manufacturers," said Robert F. LiVolsi, marketing
manager for HP's Colorado Memory Systems division. "Most organizations
prefer an open software solution such as this because it minimizes
training and encourages regular backups in an organization. It also
simplifies system administration and support across hardware from multiple
vendors."

Consistent with the division's ongoing efforts to simplify tape backup,
Release 2.5 provides easier installation through improved detection of
drives and controller boards, thus presenting the user with fewer
questions and choices. Backup operations also are simplified with the
"one-button backup" feature. Two icons are created during installation and
placed in the Colorado Backup for Windows program-group window. One icon
initiates a total backup, and the other initiates a backup only of files
that have been modified since the last backup. A user simply double-clicks
on an icon to initiate the desired backup operation.

U.S. Price and Availability

Colorado Backup for Windows is available now and is included free of charge
