GTE & Nintendo announce joint venture to develop video-game products

LAS VEGAS -- GTE Interactive Media and Nintendo of America Inc. have
announced that they have entered into a joint venture agreement to
develop, market, publish, and distribute video games as well as to explore
new technologies.

The two companies previewed their first joint development effort, FX
Fighter - a three dimensional fighting game using Nintendo's FX2 graphics
enhancer chip for the Super NES - at the Consumer Electronics Show January
6 to 9 in Las Vegas. This is the first time Nintendo has co-published a
cartridge-based video game with an outside company, and it is a long-term
venture, according to Nintendo.

fresh new games that provide truly unique game-play experiences," says
Howard Lincoln, chairman of Nintendo. He adds that GTE Interactive Media's
"unparalleled ability to engage top create talent for collabortive content
development and focus on new technologies will be an invaluable resource
to Nintendo."
