GALACTICOMM LAUNCHES INTERNET CONNECTIVITY OPTION

Sysops applaud product's versatility and user friendliness

Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- Virtual classrooms. Instant interaction across the
universe -- without the astronomical phone bills. Medical, scientific and
business research. Shared access to global databases. These are just a few
of the applications users have found for Internet Connectivity Option
(ICO), a new product that adds TCP/IP support to Galacticomm's leading BBS
software, The Major BBS. ICO supports telnet, FTP, basic WWW server and
more.

"This new release further cements The Major BBS's connectivity advantage,"
Galacticomm President and CEO Scott Brinker said. "Now, users can access
The Major BBS via modems, LAN, serial links, and (optionally) ISDN, the
Internet and X.25."

With ICO and The Major BBS, companies and individuals can launch their own
sites on the Internet. ICO can support well over 100 simultaneous dial-up
users and up to 64 TCP/IP connections on a single 486 or Pentium machine.
Product information, photograph databases, online shopping, multiplayer
games, and more can be offered to Internet users who telnet in. Users who
FTP in can get and put files over the Internet.

World-Wide Web (WWW) uses hypertext to seamlessly link multimedia documents
-- and objects within them -- to multiple Web sites around the world that
contain related resources. With a WWW server, Sysops can disseminate
information or promote their products or services with HTML pages that
Internet users navigate with Mosaic and other browsers.

In addition, Sysops can offer Internet access to their users to telnet and
FTP out to other sites. The Major BBS can attach to the Internet through
either a dial-up SLIP connection (over a regular high-speed modem) or a
dedicated line (56K, fractional T1, or T1) to any qualified host
provider.

Satisfied and enthusiastic ICO users include corporations, nonprofit and
government agencies, educational institutions, and consumer systems. One
such user is Paul Smith, Sysop for Country Music Online, a Nashville,
TN-based entertainment system. "We originally set up the Internet
Connectivity Option to provide our users with Internet access, but we're
finding it's bringing us a tremendous amount of business," says Smith.
"Internet users from all over the world telnet in to our system. It's
amazing really because we haven't even advertised yet; it's all been from
word of mouth."

Smith says the speed of his 56K direct Internet feed and ICO's user
friendliness has helped Country Online to pull ahead of the competition.
"In the other systems I have seen with Internet connectivity, users have
to go to special areas very deep in the menu tree to access the Internet,"
he said. "With ICO, users can go anywhere from any prompt. The response
has been very favorable."

Greenpeace International, a branch of the world's largest environmental
advocacy group, has also had a successful ICO debut. "For the first time,
the European and worldwide staff of Greenpeace can inexpensively reach
large indexed public and private databases across the world," says System
Administrator Bob Lyons. His organization also plans to make its public
database available over the Internet.

The Ed Lowe Foundation is also using ICO to offer its users convenient
access to research materials. "With ICO, we can offer our callers access
to our information and a wealth of resources on the Internet in one neat
package," says Tido Ciaravino, Information Systems Administrator.

Students across the globe can now attend classes at Mount Royal College in
Calgary, Alberta with the help of ICO. "Now students can access databases
on our LAN, download tests and assignments, and more, and we're assured of
the same airtight secu rity we have with The Major BBS."

ICO lists for $995. The company has announced plans to integrate SMTP and
NNTP -- the protocols for transporting mail and newsgroups across the
Internet -- in a future release of ICO. Until that time, Galacticomm will
include a free copy of its Major Gateway/Internet with ICO for dial-up
UUCP access to Internet e-mail and newsgroups. The Developer's Kit will
also be released early this year.
