WORLDWIDE

New Latitude Notebook and Aggressive Price Cuts on Award-Winning Latitude
XP Family Raise the Value Index for Portable Computing, Award-Winning XP
Notebooks Available in 14 Additional European Markets

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 30, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL)
continued driving its aggressive push for notebook leadership today with
the introduction of a new high-end model in its award-winning Dell
Latitude product line. With prices starting at just $2,299, Dell's new
Latitude 475C value-line notebook represents the most aggressive
IntelDX4-based notebook offering on the market today.

The company also announced price reductions of up to 16 percent on its
award-winning advanced-performance notebooks -- the Latitude XP product
family -- popularized by its sleek design and record-setting battery life.
The company noted that it plans to expand the availability of its Latitude
XP notebooks worldwide, launching the product into 14 new countries in
Europe during the month of February. In conjunction with today's
announcements, Dell also introduced new disk storage and memory upgrade
options for the Latitude and Latitude XP product families.

"It's no secret that part of our reentry strategy is to compete very
aggressively in this market," said Dave Altounian, Dell's director of
portables marketing. "With the introduction of the new Latitude system,
aggressive new pricing on our XP family and availability of new hard drive
and memory options, Dell continues to build on our commitment to deliver
our customers the best price-performance value for notebook computing in
the industry."

Referring to this month's Annual Notebook Torture Test in PC/COMPUTING
magazine -- entitled 'Notebook Hell' -- Altounian also noted that "After
an exhaustive battery of performance, quality and reliability tests, the
Latitude XP emerged as the 'best' notebook system out of 13 leading
notebooks tested." The notebook review included "torture and more
torture," such as bake, freeze, drop and spill tests. In less than six
months since their introduction, Dell's Latitude and Latitude XP notebooks
have received more than 20 similar accolades -- worldwide -- including
several product of the year awards.

LATITUDE ELIMINATES PRICE/PERFORMANCE COMPROMISES FOR NOTEBOOK USERS

The Dell Latitude 475C takes the performance lead within the value-line
notebook category with the incorporation of a 75-megahertz (MHz) IntelDX4
processor. The sleek, lightweight system includes "best-of-class"
ergonomics and features, such as a dual-scan color display; fast local-bus
video for increased performance, higher resolution and greater color
depth; a large, 19mm integrated trackball, located front and center for
easy accessibility to both left- and right-handed users; and removable
hard drives for meeting future storage needs and providing easy
replacement.

"With the introduction of the Latitude 475C, Dell is bringing a whole new
level of performance to the value-line notebook market," said Altounian.
"The system delivers incredible overall performance, with internal
benchmarks showing 50 percent greater performance than other manufacturers
75MHz IntelDX4 systems."

The Latitude 475C also incorporates advanced power management features and
an innovative dual-battery option that doubles the system's battery life
by replacing the removable floppy drive with an extra Nickel Metal Hydride
battery -- offering outlet-free computing time comparable to the
record-setting Latitude XP. The compact six-pound unit is available in
260-, 340- or 524-megabyte (MB) hard drive models. The company said that
260MB hard drives are now standard across all models within the Dell
Latitude family, increasing the product's entry-level storage space from
it previous 200MB capacity.

The Latitude 475C supports hot-swappable PC Cards with its single Type III
PC Card slot, which also supports two Type II or Type I cards. The system
is also outfitted with an Enhanced Parallel Port, making access to
external devices faster and a 16550 FIFO (first-in, first-out) serial
port, ensuring the system can communicate at full speed with external
devices, such as high-speed modems. The Latitude 475C is designed to take
advantage of Plug-and-Play -- while already supporting Plug-and-Play
capabilities through its PC Card support -- with a simple FLASH BIOS
upgrade when Microsoft's Windows 95 operating system is available.

The Dell Latitude line comes with a one-year limited warranty and Rapid
Response return-to-depot service -- including overnight shipment paid by
Dell. An optional one-year, next-business-day notebook replacement
contract is also available and customers may purchase up to five years of
extended service with return-to-depot repair.

The company reduced prices on the Dell Latitude notebook family by up to 13
percent earlier this month, delivering 50MHz IntelDX2-based performance
with dual-scan color to value-conscious mobile users for less than $2,000.
Dell's Latitude 450C was recently named Editors Choice in the Value
Notebook category by PC Magazine in a January roundup of nearly 70
notebook computers.

DELL MAINTAINS COMPETITIVE EDGE WITH PRICE CUTS ON ADVANCED NOTEBOOK LINE

Effective immediately, Dell cut prices by 11 to 16 percent, or $400-$700,
on all models within its high-performance Latitude XP notebook family. The
largest cuts occurred on the 50MHz IntelDX2-based active-matrix color
models, which were reduced by $700. Attached is a summary of the price
cuts, which affect the U.S. market only.

Targeted at the corporate user, the Latitude XP family offers advanced
features including exclusive 'smart' Lithium-Ion batteries and advanced
power management capabilities to deliver industry-leading battery life.
The systems feature a highly ergonomic design, removable hard drives,
flexible system expansion and high-performance IntelDX2 and IntelDX4
processors. Each system comes standard with a host of integrated
communications software and industry-leading service and support programs
to deliver the best mobile computing experience to Dell notebook users.

In addition to the introduction of new models and price reductions, Dell
also announced today that 8MB memory upgrade modules are now available for
the Latitude XP family. As advanced notebooks have become more widely used
as desktop replacement systems, many more customers are standardizing on
higher memory configurations for meeting their applications requirements.
Priced at $549, the 8MB modules can be used alone or combined with
existing 4MB and 16MB memory modules to create a broader variety of
configurations at the time of purchase or when future upgrades are
required, including popular 12 and 16MB memory capacities.

Dell's entire line of Latitude and Latitude XP notebooks come standard with
MS-DOS 6.21; Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.11; and Dell's CommCentral
software suite which now includes LapLink for Windows -- the award-winning
file transfer utility from Traveling Software -- as well as a variety of
useful software for connected and wireless communications, on-line
services, travel planning and management of personal finances.
