Database and OLAP Authority Dr. E.F. Codd Gives High Marks to Sinper's TM/1
Products

WARREN, NJ -- 1/4/95 -- Dr. E.F. Codd, creator of relational database
technology and an internationally renowned authority on OLAP (on-line
analytical processing), has given high marks to Sinper Corporation for its
TM/1 Perspectives and TM/1 Spreadsheet Connector products.

OLAP products feature rapid consolidation, dynamic data navigation, and
easy data retrieval and presentation required in decision support tasks,
such as budgeting, forecasting, ad hoc analysis, and reporting. Dr. Codd
is the author of The 12 Rules of Evaluating OLAP Products.

"TM/1 was initially released in 1984, almost ten years before we first
defined OLAP technology and the OLAP product genre," stated Dr. Codd, in
his evaluation of Sinper products. "The client-server version was
initially released in 1989. Today, TM/1 is used world-wide by end-user
analysts. Since its initial appearance, it has evolved to become one of
the most robust OLAP products in the marketplace. TM/1 complements
database and spreadsheet technologies by providing the ability to discern
relationships not expressed explicitly in the underlying database design,
and by providing for the specification of additional consolidation paths
by the user-analyst during the analysis session.

"In our case studies of experienced TM/1 users," Dr. Codd continued, "all
described the product as a very powerful tool, and one that is easy to
use. Individually, every TM/1 user interviewed commented that before using
TM/1, the functions available for in-depth data analysis were severely
restricted. Much of the time was spent in generating reports containing
data that had to be analyzed manually. Subsequently, the data developed
from the analysis of these reports had to be keyed into spreadsheets
manually, and additional reports had to be developed.

"With the advent of TM/1, these same user-analysts report that they can not
only analyze the original data and generate the reports they need in a
fully automated interactive session, but they can accomplish these tasks
in a fraction of the time previously required. Moreover, they can now
perform analysis and generate reports that they were totally unable to
generate at all before TM/1.

"While no currently available product provides all of the functionality
desired for comprehensive OLAP support according to the four types of
analytical models presented," Dr. Codd added, "TM/1 is immediately
available, intuitive, very easy to use, and very powerful. This product
provides significant value today and shows great potential for the
future."
