HYPERLOGIC ANNOUNCES AUTOMATIC FUZZY SYSTEM BUILDER

Escondido, California -- January 3, 1995 -- HyperLogic Corporation
announces an important new product in the field of adaptive fuzzy systems.
The product called Rule Maker, is an add-on to HyperLogic's popular
CubiCalc line of fuzzy logic development tools.

Rule Maker generates fuzzy systems from user-supplied data For many new
users, the biggest impediment to progress in using fuzzy technology is
just getting started. Once a working model is in place, users can tune the
system in any of several ways. But for novices, the first rule base and
fuzzy sets can be hard to choose Rule Maker is designed to make this task
easy.

The tool offers several different approaches, depending on the type of
system and the data available "Adaptive fuzzy is still a big research
topic," remarked Fred Watkins President of HyperLogic. "No known method
works for every problem. What Rule Maker does is make several highly
effective methods available in a single package."

Rule Maker lets the user create his own fuzzy sets up front but can also do
it automatically. Other tools don't offer this choice, or else they
restrict the fuzzy sets to particular shapes. Competitive methods
involving only neural networks cannot handle cases in which the available
data is sparse; Rule Maker's combinations of statistical, analytic, and
heuristic methods accommodate sparse data and other difficult cases.
Almost any situation is covered by one of the methods included in the
product. In addition, Rule Maker provides user-settable data manipulation
options such as edge enhancement, center emphasis, and data filtering.

Rule Maker can create systems with up to nine input variables and three
output variables. Competitive products are usually far more restrictive.
The number of possible inputs lets Rule Maker tackle larger problems than
the usual two- or three-input control systems. Most practical decision
support applications involve many variables.

The introductory single-copy price for Rule Maker is $195 in North America,
$250 in other areas. Rule Maker requires CubiCalc, CubiCalc RTC, or
CubiCard Version 2.0d. Current users of Version 2 of the CubiCalc line can
get a free maintenance update to 2.0d when purchasing Rule Maker. Users of
CubiQuick or versions of CubiCalc before 2.0 should contact HyperLogic for
upgrade pricing.
