PCB DESIGN CONFERENCE PROGRAM WILL HELP DESIGNERS ADDRESS NEW CHALLENGES

"Cross-Training" in Technical and Quality Issues
a Necessity to Meet Demands of Fast-Moving Electronics Industry

San Francisco, Calif. -- January 18, 1995 -- While high-speed design and
the increasing miniaturization of all types of electronic systems are key
technical issues, design professionals working in the rapidly changing
electronics industry must also consider manufacturability, quality
assurance and reliability as they make decisions about printed circuit
board design. To meet these needs, the 1995 PCB Design Conference offers a
full slate of programs that allows designers and engineers to
simultaneously "crosstrain" and choose a concentrated certificate
curriculum in any one of four areas.

Attendees at this year's conference, scheduled for March 20 - 24 at the
Santa Clara Convention Center, in Santa Clara, Calif. will be able to
choose from more than 60 workshops, seminars, lectures and full-day
tutorials. New and updated topics include sessions on the design of
credit-card-sized PCMCIA cards, practical design approaches for systems
with clock rates in excess of 100 MHz, multichip module design, design for
test and design for manufacturability. Other topics include the impact of
quality standards such as ISO 9000 have on design and the return of
popular panel discussion groups such as the EDA Face-to Face Roundtable.

This year also marks the introduction of special curriculums covering
High-Speed Design, Packaging, Design for Manufacturability, and Electrical
Engineering for the Non-Engineer. Each Design Excellence Certificate
Curriculum includes one full-day tutorial and three half-day seminars.

The certificate curriculums are scheduled to provide sufficient time for
attending courses in other topic areas and leave ample time to view the
latest EDA products on the exhibit floor. Of course, attendees should also
save some energy for the opening night reception, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, March 21, and the traditional All Star Rhythm and Blues Review,
on Wednesday, March 22 from 8:00 11:00 p.m.

Now in its fourth year, the PCB Design Conference is the premier industry
conference and trade exhibition focused for printed circuit design
professionals. Fast growth and rapid change in the electronics industry
overall are creating new challenges for printed circuit designers. The
conference organizers, including the editors of Printed Circuit Design
magazine, work to address these changing needs by offering a dynamic
program and recruiting industry leaders as program participants.

The PCB Design Conference is the annual showcase for emerging technologies
used in the design and manufacture of printed circuit boards. It is
produced by Miller Freeman, Inc., the third largest trade show producer in
North America. A wholly owned subsidiary of United Newspapers plc of
London, England, the company produces dozens of electronics and software
conferences and trade shows, including: Autodesk University, The Embedded
System Conferences (East and West), MechanCAD, Surface Mount
International, and the OS/2 World Conference and Exhibition.
