Mystic River Software, Inc. Announces Alliance with InterGroup Technologies
to Offer "Code Behind Forms"

Together, Softbridge Basic Language (SBL) and VisualWare Provide Same
Familiar Development Paradigm Used by Visual Basic

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (January 13, 1995)--Mystic River Software, Inc.
today announced that it has formed an alliance with InterGroup
Technologies, Inc. (Bellevue, WA) to offer a visual programming toolkit
that uses Softbridge Basic Language (SBL) and VisualWare. Together, these
technologies provide a powerful combination of industry standards: SBL is
an embeddable scripting language that is compatible with VBA; and
VisualWare is a forms-based development environment that provides a Visual
Basic-style programming paradigm, with support for both VBX and OCX. The
result answers the needs of ISVs who want to add a Basic scripting
language and a visual programming environment to their applications.

Enables Developers to Take Advantage of Component Technology

"We are excited about the opportunities that this partnership opens for
developers," says Jerry Bedrick, President of Mystic River Software, Inc.
"With programmability becoming increasingly important at both the
application and the Windows desktop level, the coupling of our
technologies will provide a significant benefit to ISVs and corporate
developers who need to add scripting to their applications."

The combination will soon be shipping in Axiant 2.0, a client/server
application development environment from Cognos (Burlington, MA). "Two
years ago," says Neal Hill, vice president, corporate marketing at Cognos,
"Cognos realized that the client environment of client/server applications
was going to be built primarily on Microsoft's Windows infrastructure.
With SBL and VisualWare as integral parts of Axiant 2.0, we will give
developers the ability to leverage the popularity of the Windows
programming model and the widespread availability of component
technology--but without confining them to any single vendor's development
components." SBL is also part of Impromptu 3.0, an interactive
client/server data access and reporting tool from Cognos.

Together, Products Provide "Code Behind Forms" Paradigm

SBL is an embeddable version of Basic that becomes a seamless part of
applications. Developers can easily extend SBL to include
application-specific commands, functions and objects. SBL also provides a
variety of prepackaged, redistributable components, including an Editor,
Debugger, Dialog Box Editor, and extensive on-line and printed
documentation. VisualWare is a forms-oriented Windows application
development tool that is compatible with Microsoft's Visual Basic.
VisualWare also provides access to virtually all standard third-party
custom control components or VBXs (Visual Basic Extensions), including
data-bound controls. Developers create application user interfaces for the
client by arranging controls on forms. Both product are licensed to ISVs
and corporate developers.

Platforms and Pricing

Currently available for Windows, Windows NT, and OS/2, SBL will soon be
available for other platforms, including Windows 95 and the Macintosh.
Pricing plans are available for both variable rate royalties and single
fees.

VisualWare is currently available for Windows and Windows NT, and will be
available for Windows 95. Pricing plans are available for both variable
rate royalties and single fees.
