New Lower Cost DRAM DSP Board

December 31, 1994 -- Wintriss Engineering Corporation has introduced the
Maestro 2100D DSP Development Board for audio, video, and general signal
processing applications. The latest product in the Wintriss Engineering
line of DSP boards, the Maestro 2100D is a lower cost alternative to
boards using SRAM. Based on the industry standard Texas Instruments
TMS320C30 floating point DSP, the 2100D plugs into an IBM-compatible PC/AT
ISA 16 bit bus, provides for data transfer rates up to 4.2 MB/sec, and is
available in both 33 MHz and 40 MHz clock rates. The Maestro 2100D offers
up to 64 MB of DRAM, and like the Maestro 2100S, it has the added feature
of sharing up to 2 MB of SRAM with the PC/AT in a Dual Access Memory (DAM)
scheme. This DAM can be used for data transfer with the PC and for running
C30 code. The Maestro 2100D is compatible with all Texas Instruments' C30
DSP Tools, and Tartan Inc.'s C/C++ Development System, which is
windows-based. Wintriss Engineering offers a prototyping daughter board,
including a fully labeled wire-wrap area, which mounts to the Maestro via
two 96-pin DIN connectors. Custom platform boards, built to user
specifications, are also available on a quick turnaround basis. Maestro
2100D prices start at $2,550 for 2MB SRAM / 8MB DRAM, in small
quantities.
