HP ANNOUNCES TAPE BACKUP SOFTWARE FOR OS/2

PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 3, 1995 -- Hewlett-Packard Company today announced
a new addition to its family of tape backup software programs. The
product, Colorado Backup for OS/2, from HP's Colorado Memory Systems
division, provides fast, reliable backup for OS/2 users. It is compatible
with the popular Jumbo and Trakker 120, 250, and 350 tape backup systems,
the company's internal and external parallel-port drives, which conform to
QIC-40 and QIC-80 industry standards.

"We have had a large number of requests for a full-featured backup program
that meets the needs of OS/2 users," said Robert F. LiVolsi, marketing
manager for HP's Colorado Memory Systems division. "With the introduction
of OS/2 3.0 Warp, we see a rapidly growing market in high-performance,
mission-critical environments, where users are sensitive to the need for
backup. The program offers a powerful, yet affordable backup solution with
features that make data protection easy for the enterprise environment as
well as for stand-alone installations."

Colorado Backup for OS/2 is a true 32-bit application that takes full
advantage of OS/2's multitasking capabilities. It gives users a familiar
OS/2 interface with pull-down menus and point-and-click file selection.
Support of bidirectional data exchange between DOS, Windows (tm) and OS/2
allows easy migration of DOS and Windows files to and from OS/2 systems.

The program handles extended attributes, long file names, INI files, system
files, and the OS/2 desktop. It also backs up FAT, HPFS, and Stacked FAT
partitions. A two-disk recovery program gives users quick recovery from a
system crash without requiring that they reinstall the OS/2 operating
system. An easy file-set recording capability provides automated,
unattended backups. Other features include reliable data compression,
password protection and optional command-line operation.

In addition to individual workstation backup, Colorado Backup for OS/2
provides server-based backup and restore for OS/2 networking environments,
such as Microsoft (r) LAN Manager and IBM LAN Server.
