FREMONT, CALIF., Jan. 17, 1995--Grand Junction Networks Inc., introduced
the industry's first commercially available 100Base-T fiber (100Base-FX)
products and a new workgroup switch withmodular, high-speed connections
for flexible server and backbone connectivity. Grand's new suite of
100Base-T fiber products offers customers the ability to implement Fast
Ethernet backbones in high-rise buildings and campus environments with
fiber installed. The new high-speed modules offer customers network
configuration, wiring and backbone flexibility.

The new additions to Grand's FastLink product family include: the
FastHub100, the industry's first 100Base-T fiber repeater; the FastNIC 100
EISA, the industry's first 100Base-T fiber network adapter; the FastSwitch
10/100 ES, a workgroup switch containing two expansion slots for Grand
Junction's new FastMate field-pluggable modules that provide customers
with a variety of high-speed connections; and four FastMate modules
supporting 100Base-T unshielded twisted pair (UTP) and fiber connections.

With these products, 100Base-T users can, for the first time,
inexpensivelytake advantage of fiber optic cabling's extended range.
Compared to the maximum distance of 100 meters supported by UTP, fiber
optic cabling offers an increase of 50 percent or more. The maximum link
distance (distance from repeater to end station) on a uniformly cabled
fiber-based repeated network is 150 meters, up to 400 meters between
switched 100Base-T fiber connections and up to two kilometers between two
full duplex 100Base-T fiber connections.

Grand Junction's new 12-port FastHub 100, the first commercially available
standalone repeater supporting 100Base-T fiber connections, provides 100
Mbps performance for centralized server resources and provides high-speed
backbone connectivity for switch-based networks. Grand's FastSwitch 10/100
ES workgroup switch provides two expansion slots for a choice of modular
high-speed connections for server and backbone connectivity and 25 10Mbps
private ethernet ports for workstations. In combination with the FastMate
field-pluggable modules, FastSwitch 10/100 ES delivers network
configuration, wiring and backbone flexibility.

The first four FastMate modules available for the FastSwitch 10/100 ES
include:

-- 1 switched-port 100Base-TX module for Fast Ethernet on UTP
-- 1 switched-port 100Base-FX module for Fast Ethernet on fiber
-- 8-port 100Base-TX repeater module for Fast Ethernet on UTP
-- 4-port 100Base-FX repeater module for Fast Ethernet on fiber

A field-installable module for connectivity to FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data
Interface) backbones is scheduled for release from Grand Junction in the
third quarter 1995 and a module for Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)
backbone connectivity is scheduled for release in 1996. The new product
prices and availability are as follows:
