DELL ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT TO LOCATE MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN PENANG,
MALAYSIA

AUSTIN, TX, Jan. 23, 1995 -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) today
announced it intends to purchase a nine-acre site in Penang, Malaysia, for
construction of a new manufacturing facility to meet the needs of its
expanding Asia-Pacific business. Company officials made the announcement
at media briefings held today in Tokyo, Japan, and last Friday in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dell expects to break ground on the 125,000 square-foot facility located in
Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone Phase IV, after it has completed its
purchase of the selected land. Over the next five years, the new facility
is expected to employ more than 400 people in the manufacture of desktop,
portable and network server personal computers, for sale throughout Asia
and Australia.

"The growth of our Asia-Pacific business has been very strong over the past
two years and we now need a regional manufacturing capability to meet
burgeoning demand," said Phil Kelly, Dell's vice president, Asia. Mr.
Kelly noted that the company's business in the Asia-Pacific region grew at
an annual rate of 139 percent during the past year, driven primarily by
growth at its two-year-old subsidiary operation in Japan. Dell also has an
increasing number of distributors in countries located throughout the
region, including two distributor partners in Malaysia.

A new Dell subsidiary company, Computer Direct Sendirian (Sdn.) will be
established in Malaysia for the manufacturing operation. Dell has named
Gary Elmore to the position of vice president, Manufacturing Operations,
Asia-Pacific. In this position, Mr. Elmore will be responsible for all
operations of the planned facility, from the start-up and construction
phase through volume manufacturing. The new manufacturing operation and
its subsidiary will be a key part of Dell's regional business operations
headed by Mr. Kelly.

"This new production facility demonstrates our continued commitment to the
Asia-Pacific market and will enhance our customer service by allowing us
to offer more competitive lead times and regional customer support as well
as providing greater pricing flexibility," said Scott Flaig, senior vice
president of worldwide operations.

Dell selected Malaysia as the site for its new manufacturing facility for
several reasons, including a highly skilled local labor force, excellent
infrastructure, favorable business climate, and the country's extensive
experience in manufacturing electronics. Malaysia's central-Asia location
also will afford Dell's new facility good proximity to key customers and
vendors.

A Global 500 company, Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) designs,
develops, manufactures, markets, services and supports a complete line of
personal computers compatible with industry standards. Dell is the world's
leading direct marketer of personal computers and one of the top five
personal computer vendors in the world with annual revenues of more than
$3 billion. Information on the company and its products can be obtained
