FullPixelSearch

Pattern Recognition Software Receives Major Upgrade

Avian Systems, developer of scientific imaging software, announces the
release of Version 1.5 of FullPixelSearch, a software application that
allows users to conduct unique region of interest analyses and pattern
matching on TIFF or PICT images on color-enabled Macintosh computers.
Version 1.5 adds the following features:

* A customizable heads-up display where data about a region follows
the cursor as you range over the image.
* The ability to annotate or name colors.
* The ability to calibrate an image to any user-defined units.
* The ability to create user-defined coordinate system for an image.
* The ability to import, export and to quantify palettes.

FullPixelSearch matches patterns at the pixel level, a function which
previously has been available only on mainframe systems. FullPixelSearch
works with a wide range of images and has been used by earth scientists to
scan satellite photos of the earth, physicians and pathologists to analyze
X-Ray, MRI and other biomedical images, and astronomers to study various
images from space. FullPixelSearch allows the user to simultaneously
author a search routine while viewing an image. The user assembles search
templates either by copying and pasting regions of interest, or pixel by
pixel. FullPixelSearch than scans the image and records the location of
regions that match the search criteria much the same way that
search-find-replace commands perform in word processors.

FullPixelSearch allows analysts to:

* Locate regions of interest and define a search based on those
  regions.
* Save, as separate files, search templates and the location of all
  matches generated.
* Generate and store in memory 10 histograms of any selected region
  of an image
* Plot the histograms by several different color axis.
* Re-color, threshold, and animate the image palette.
* Calculate diversity for any image or region of an image.
* Generate a "neighbor report" for all pixels neighboring up to eight
pixels away from any color thereby enabling the user to quantify the
degree of randomness in an image.

FullPixelSearch is available for $1,295 ($895 academic). For more
