Leading Worldwide Software Vendors Point to Strong Sales Growth and
Continued Power Macintosh Application Development

Apple Computer Also Announces Shipment of 500th Native Power Macintosh
Application

CUPERTINO,California--January 30, 1995--Impressive sales gains, strong
customer demand and plans for continued development of native applications
are among the statements Apple Computer, Inc. released today from a
contingent of the leading software developers with products shipping for
the company's fast-growing Power Macintosh family of RISC-based personal
computers.

Simultaneously, Apple Computer, Inc. today also announced that more than
500 native Power Macintosh applications, which have been optimized to take
advantage of the significant performance gains provided by Power Macintosh
computers, are now shipping. Today's announcement is the latest in a
series of key milestones Power Macintosh has achieved in its first ten
months, including the most recent announcement that Apple has shipped its
one millionth Power Macintosh personal computer or upgrade--a milestone
reached two months ahead of the company's stated goal when Power Macintosh
was introduced last March.

"Today's announcements provide further evidence that Power Macintosh has
accelerated interest in developing for the Mac platform," said David
Nagel, senior vice president and general manager of the AppleSoft
division. "Leading developers in many market segments are now able to
offer their customers qualitative enhancements with their Power Mac
software, especially when they also take advantage of Macintosh System
7.5. With the leading volume RISC platform, Apple offers the software
community not only a large and growing base of customers, but significant
performance gains and the foundation for new levels of technical
innovation."

Applications optimized for the Power Macintosh platform are being released
at an increasing pace, with the world's leading Macintosh developers all
offering native applications. More than 100 new native applications have
been released within the last two months. These new native applications
from the leading software vendors cover a wide range of market segments,
including business, multimedia, technical, publishing and graphics,
entertainment and games, and education.

In addition to the growing number of native applications, Power Macintosh
computers also run existing Macintosh applications as well as Windows and
DOS applications, with optional hardware or software.

Developers Cite Impressive Sales Gains

Many of the leading Power Macintosh developers are reporting sales growth
ranging from 25% - 100%, fueled by the increasing demand of their native
Power Macintosh titles.

Novell, Inc., developers of the world's best-selling word processor of all
time with more than 17 million copies sold worldwide, commented:
"WordPerfect is experiencing more than a 25% increase in sales of its
Macintosh products over the same quarter a year ago," said Dave Harding,
WordPerfect product marketing manager. "Our customers have given us high
marks for delivering native applications that take advantage of System 7.5
capabilities."

According to ACI US, a leading relational database developer for the
Macintosh: "Since the introduction of the Power Mac native version of 4D
and 4D Server, our sales have increased 27%," reports Susan Tussy,
director of sales at ACI US. "The response from our customers has been
tremendous. Hundreds of calls requesting product updates have flooded into
the ACI sales department."

Claris Corporation, a leading worldwide vendor of Macintosh and Windows
applications for business, education, government and home, echoed ACI's
comments: "In this highly competitive applications software market, Claris
has seen its Macintosh units increase by more than 50 percent over the
past year," said Daniel L. Eilers, president and CEO, Claris Corporation.
"Strong sales of our application software for the Power Mac and Macintosh
platform have positioned Claris as the leading Macintosh applications
developer."

According to Insignia Solutions, the industry's leading provider of
high-quality PC compatibility solutions for Macintosh computers and
UNIX-based workstations: "Our sales took off with the launch of the Power
Mac in March," said David Gibbs, Insignia Solutions' vice president of
Macintosh sales. "We've experienced record sales for the past two quarters
with growth of our Power Mac product line up 30 - 40% over the previous
quarter. Overall growth in the product line for the year is up 100% over
last year's run rate for this category of product."

National Instruments, a developer of computer-based instrument control,
data acquisition and data analysis products, said: "Our sales have shown a
dramatic increase since we began shipping native Power Mac versions of our
applications, including, HiQ , our numerical analysis program, LabVIEW ,
our graphical instrumentation program, and LabSuite, the combination of
LabVIEW and HiQ," said Dudley Baker, vice president of marketing, National
Instruments. "In fact, sales of HiQ have more than doubled since shipping
the Power Mac version of this product."

Several other leading Macintosh developers, including Adobe Systems Inc.,
Frame Technology, Great Plains Software, Macromedia, Microsoft
Corporation, Quark, Inc. and Scitex Corporation Ltd. also reported healthy
sales, strong customer demand and impressive performance of their
respective native Power Macintosh applications.

Innovative New Apple Programs Aid Developers

In a recent study conducted by Apple, some 40% of the company's installed
base of developers--and 85% of its newest developers--have already shipped
or are currently developing native applications. Apple continues to offer
several programs to assist software developers in their native application
development efforts, including: two Macintosh porting labs, where
developers can come on- site to do hands-on development work and receive
technical support from Apple's Developer Technical Support group; and
Power Macintosh home pages on the WorldWide Web, which provide literature,
sample codes and training as well as a FTP file server on the Internet.

Power Macintosh, the next-generation of Macintosh personal computers, is
based on PowerPC processors jointly developed by Apple, IBM, and Motorola.
The expanding line of

Power Macintosh computers brings new levels of performance and
functionality to customers at competitive prices. Applications optimized
for the family of RISC-based Macintosh computers offer customers two to
six times the performance of today's fastest 486- and 68040-based personal
computers. An independent study by Ingram Laboratories recently found that
Power Macs outperformed Pentium- based systems with comparable clock-speed
processors by an average of 38%.

Apple Computer, Inc., a recognized pioneer and innovator in the information
industry, creates powerful solutions based on easy-to-use personal
computers, servers, peripherals, software, on-line services, and personal
digital assistants. Headquartered in Cupertino, California, Apple (NASDAQ:
AAPL) develops, manufactures, licenses and markets products, technologies
and services for the business, education, consumer, scientific &
engineering and government markets in more than 140 countries.
