OYSTER BAY, NY -- Acclaim has announced that a memory chip which replaces
higher-priced, conventional ROM cartridge battery back-up systems has been
developed by the company and will be incorporated in its NFL Quarterback
Club Sega Genesis Video Game.

"Our new custom-designed memory chip reduces the overall number of
components required for current battery back-up systems, thus reducing
production cost," says Robert Holmes, president of Acclaim.

Developed by Acclaim's manufacturing and engineering departments, the new
ASIC design incorporates electrical erasable programmable ROM technology
(E-squared), offering a long-term, cost-effective design solution to
conventional battery and SRAM backups. The chip is able to support all
current configurations for 16-bit cartridge hardware systems, including
16-, 224- and 32-megabit ROM cartridges.
