Growing Publishing Firm Diversifies
Sees new opportunities in print-digital connections

Chapel Hill, NC; November 2, 1994 -- Ventana Press announced an aggressive
new expansion of its core computer book publishing business into
electronic publishing, Internet-supported content and book/software
combinations. The newly-restructured Ventana Communications Group, Inc.,
will operate through three divisions: Ventana Press, its traditional trade
book publisher; Ventana Media, which will develop software/book sets; and
Ventana Online, the company's interactive telecommunications research,
development and distribution arm.

In 1992, Ventana Press was among the first trade publishers to address the
online market via a partnership with America Online, providing AOL's
retail presence with Mac, Windows and DOS editions of The Official America
Online Membership Kit & Tour Guide. These popular titles encouraged the
1993 launch of Ventana's highly successful Internet Tour Guide series,
leading in turn to the formation of Ventana Media and the May, 1994
introduction of its first product, the Internet Membership Kit, which has
quickly attained bestseller status.

Emerging opportunities on the Internet's World Wide Web triggered Ventana's
acquisition of DreamTech, an innovative provider of Internet content and
tools, in summer 1994. This acquisition formed the basis for VCG's newest
division, Ventana Online.

"As Ventana Press, we were at the publishing forefront in addressing
computer users' needs for readable guides to their new tools," VCG
President Josef Woodman said. "Our new structure will allow us to more
directly compete as the Internet creates expanded interactive
communications opportunities."

Ventana Communications Group, Inc. is located at 110 E. Main Street,
Carrboro, NC 27510, USA.
