Newer Technology PowerClip Accelerator Chosen As Editor's Choice Award
Finalist

WICHITA, Kan. - 12/09/94 - Newer Technology's innovative PowerClip
accelerator, which combines increased operating speeds with lower costs
for optimum value, has been selected as one of three Editors' Choice Award
finalists for best New Accelerator Product by MacUser magazine. Unlike
competitive "clips" that change speed by replacing the entire clock
crystal, the PowerClip design offers more than 110 different speeds.
Retail price is just $195, with a street price through mail-order firms of
around $160. PowerClip represents a growing line of accelerators from
Newer Technology, recognized as an industry leader in memory enhancement
products for Macintosh computers.

The 1994 "Eddy" Awards will be presented for products in 36 categories on
January 3, 1995, in San Francisco, Calif, and recognize the best Macintosh
hardware and software products released throughout the year. Finalists are
selected based on technological innovation, quality, performance, user
friendliness and value to Macintosh users. Special awards will honor the
Hardware and Software Products of the Year as well as recognize the
Breakthrough Technology of the year.

PowerClip is a low-cost CPU accelerator for Power Macintosh 6100/60 and
7100/66 computers, as well as for the Performa 6110, 6112, 6115, 6117 and
6118 models (which are based on the Power Mac 6100). The 6100 and 7100
both operate at an accelerated speed of approximately 80MHz translating
into a minimum guaranteed performance improvement of 33 percent and 21
percent, respectively.

Depending upon the configuration of each individual computer (chip
tolerances, RAM speed, installed NuBus card, etc.), increased speed may be
possible. Using a simple DIP switch, users adjust the CPU's speed upwards
in 0.2 MHz increments. PowerClip installs directly onto the motherboard
clock chip and involves no permanent alterations to the computer, no wires
and no software.

PowerClip has passed both the Class A (for business use) and the more
rigorous Class B testing (for home use). It comes with a two-year parts
and labor warranty, unlimited toll-free technical support, illustrated
manual and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

"PowerClip represents the type of innovation, quality and performance that
we engineer into every product, and we are proud it is a finalist for this
prestigious award," stated Newer Technology president, James Wiebe. We
began applying our expertise in memory products to accelerator products
for the Macintosh more than three years ago. Today, Newer Technology
offers a full line of seven accelerators for everything from the IIsi to
the Power Mac 7100."

Newer Technology offers a similar clip, MacClip, which has all of the
features of the PowerClip and is 100 percent compatible with the Macintosh
Centris 610, 650 and 660AV, and the Quadra 610, 650, 660AV, 800 and 840AV.
Minimum guaranteed speed increases range from 12 percent in the 840AV to
40 percent in the Centris 610.

"This year, the 10th anniversary of the Eddy Awards, it's clear that the
1994 finalists represent the best products of the year and set the stage
for product innovation in the future," noted Maggie Canon, MacUser
editor-in-chief. Newer Technology's PowerClip is competing with two Radius
graphic accelerator products.
