Gradient Launches PC-DCE/32 for Windows NT and Windows 95

Gradient customers and active DCE developers who follow the OSF's DCE SIG
got an early insight into exciting DCE news. On August 23 Gradient
President Len Halio posted a message to the SIG informing readers of
Gradient's commitment to bring DCE technology to Microsoft Windows NT. The
overwhelming response to that news has been indicative of the importance
of this platform and of the role Gradient performs in desktop DCE
products.

Gradient's PC-DCE/32, targets Intel x86 based computers running Microsoft
32-bit Windows operating systems. With this release Gradient brings true
DCE "secure core" client and server functionality, including Cell
Directory Server and

Security Server to 32-bit Windows. As with all of Gradient's DCE products,
100% compliance with OSF standards and interoperability with other DCE
compliant platforms are guaranteed.

Designed and optimized for Windows NT and Windows 95, PC-DCE/32 enables
organizations to fully integrate 32-bit Windows PCs into their enterprise
DCE environment. Applications developed in PC-DCE/32 are binary compatible
in both Microsoft 32-bit operating systems. Developers benefit from the
ability to use both DCE threads and native Windows threads within an
application. PC-DCE/32 provides for exception mapping between the DCE and
Windows environments. DCE services are also configurable as Windows NT
services. By offering both connection-oriented and connectionless
transport for RPCs, PD-DCE/32 provides organizations a significant
advantage in efficiency and flexibility.

End users benefit from a single integrated login to both the OS and DCE.
The CDS Clerk has been implemented as a DLL for enhanced performance on
client systems, and CDS maintains a protected per-client cache for added
security.

The PC-DCE/32 product line will include an Application Developers Kit, DCE
Administrators Kit and Runtime Kit, for both Windows NT and Windows 95.
PC-DCE/32 will also provide a Cell Directory Server and Security Server.

All components of PC-DCE/32 are fully OSF DCE compliant. There is no
reliance on proprietary APIs. As with all Gradient DCE products, PC-DCE/32
will consistently track new releases in the OSF DCE standard.
