Intellitech Corporation Announces NetMerge

Extends board level 1149.1 based ATPG tools for use with Systems and MCMs

October 3, 1994 ITC Washington, DC -- Intellitech Corporation, developer of
IEEE 1149.1 compatible hardware and software, announced the immediate
availability of NetMerge, software for intelligently merging netlists for
1149.1 interconnect tests. Current 1149.1 interconnect test ATPG software
(such as Teradyne's Victory and the Texas Instruments' ASSET Interconnect
Test product) create tests at the board level only. Test patterns are
generated for a single board using the board's netlist and the appropriate
BSDL (Boundary Scan Description Language) files for the devices on the
board. NetMerge extends the capability of the ATPG software by creating
the merged netlist needed when the UUT (Unit Under Test) contains
schematic designs from multiple sources, such as Systems, boards with
MCMs, boards with daughter cards and boards tested with scan based
fixtures. NetMerge has multiple merging capabilities including a full
merge, physical connections only, or physical interface and UUT (unit
under test) only.

"We have identified three major areas that need merged netlists to create
1149.1 interconnect test vectors" said Adam Cron, Director of Engineering
at Intellitech. "First, for system level interconnect testing, in a
multi-slot backplane, for instance, it is desirable to perform
interconnect tests from one board in one slot, through the connector and
backplane to the board in the next slot. Typically, there isn't a system
level schematic. The board netlists are all separate and need to be
intelligently merged at their physical connection points to create a
single netlist for use with the ATPG tool. Secondly, the same is true for
boards incorporating daughter cards or MCM's (Multi-Chip Modules). The
netlists are separate, and need to be merged at the points where the
daughter card or MCM meets the board. And finally, scan-based features
(designed to apply parallel patterns to the edge of a UUT in conjunction
with scan operations) which contain a netlist separate from the UUT". Cron
concluded with "In all three scenarios, the NetMerge user can just point
and click at the appropriate connections and a merged netlist will be
generated".

Prices start at $2495.00 for MS-Windows based platforms and includes a
license, media, documentation and support services. The Sparc compatible
version will be available in 1Q95. For additional information, contact
