Missing the FAX in Microsoft NT Server 3.5?
LANSource Provides Needed Fax Elements for NT

TORONTO, Canada -- December 20, 1994 -- LANSource Technologies, the leader
in combined network fax and data communications server technology,
announces support for NT Servers with their fax-server FAXport v5.0. Now
NT users who are yearning for fax-support will have a solution to their
needs early in February.

"Microsoft NT is now reality, and so now is our time to support it," says
Marc Bisnaire, President of LANSource Technologies Inc. "Windows NT
Server, unlike Windows for Workgroups, currently does not provide a
built-in fax product. LANSource is stepping in to provide that missing and
crucial element."

FAXport v5.0 brings a new look to network fax. It has the features of
Winfax Pro in an easy to use and manage fax client, but the network
interface is faster and is much more streamlined and user-oriented.

FAXport provides real-time fax and queue management. This includes full
reporting, logging, diagnostics, and security. Leo Pukhovitsky of Charm
Sciences Inc. says he likes that it runs in real-time "so I can see the
faxing in progress and have more control."

The store-and-forward fax-server makes use of all shared fax-modems for
simultaneous faxing to multiple recipients. Incoming faxes are
automatically or manually routed to the appropriate user to ensure
privacy. The cover pages are generated at the fax-server, so faxing
becomes much faster, and users can get back to work quicker. All
forwarding of faxes happens transparently in the background.

There are no TSRs on the Windows client PCs.

FAXport now has a full-featured integrated fax client including OCR, a FAX
viewer, FAX markup and custom cover pages. It is specifically engineered
for simplicity and ease-of-use. The client software features large,
descriptive smart-icons with flyover help boxes.

It has unlimited shared phonebooks and phonebook groups (both network and
private) with pre-defined handling instructions. This means each user can
associate basic defaults for each recipient in the phone book such cover
pages, sending times, and priortities. There is even a top-ten list that
can be set as either the top-ten recipients, or the last ten faxes sent.
In addition, document folders are pre-definable for sent and received
faxes with multiple layers of filing. In fact, each recipient and sender
can have their own folder for recieved or sent faxes complete with
associated billing codes.

Multiple document folders make document management and cross-referencing a
snap. Drag-and-drop action allows users to drag faxes from the send and
receive logs and deposit them in the correct document folder. The folders
have general query functions. Parameters for fax compression, archival,
and deletion are folder specific and user-adjustable with a pop-up
calander. Default billing codes make tracing communication costs simple.

E-mail integration for MAPI, VIM, and MHS is included. DDE and OLE 2.0
support is also available in keeping with Microsofts strategic direction
for 32-bit processing.

Previously a lighter version of FAXport was included in WINport,
LANSource's modem sharing solution. But with the 5.0 release, the products
will be sold separately.

"We are doing this to give our clients the specific network communications
functionality that they are looking for in a modular format," says Ihor
Petelycky, VP of Marketing at LANSource. "WINport v5.0 will remain the
best product for fax/modem sharing, and FAXport will become the
full-featured fax-server and fax-client solution. By combining, WINport
v5.0 and FAXport v5.0 network administrators can integrate a complete fax
and communication server. Both applications are completely scaleable with
WINport licensed by the number of shared modems, and FAXport by the number
of users. Combo packs are also available."

FAXport currently works with any IPX, NetBIOS and TCP/IP network running in
a Windows client environment. The server portion can run on any dedicated
DOS PC, dedicated or non-dedicated Windows or WFW 3.11 PC, and any
non-dedicated Microsoft Windows NT 3.5 Server. Windows, Windows for
Workgroups and Windows NT clients are supported.
