ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS LIMITED ANNOUNCES EXM/EDI ENABLER;
PROVIDES INTERFACE TO MOST POPULAR EDI PACKAGES;
EXM/EDI Enabler Bridges the Gap Between X.400 and EDI

(Boston, Massachusetts; 29 November 1994)--Enterprise Solutions Limited
(ESL), provider of complete X.400/X.500 messaging solutions, announced
today at EMail World the EXM/EDI Enabler, its new Electronic Data
Interchange interface product. EXM/EDI Enabler integrates EDI and EXM Mail
in an X.400 platform, providing the interface to most popular MS-DOS,
Windows and Unix EDI packages. It provides full X.435 and X12 support, and
employs Personality Modules to establish rules for EDI activity. The
product is available integrated with the EXM User Agent, and requires only
a single user mailbox at a Message Store.

EXM/EDI Enabler allows an EDI Translation and Management Package to be
incorporated into the desktop environment. It provides the EXM X.400 mail
user with seamless access to the rich features and advantages of EDI.
Corporate users, government agencies and IT manufacturers can all take
advantage of EDI, which has rapidly become a major value- added service
provided on top of X.400. Some of the strategic business benefits of EDI
include faster transmission of data, more accurate transmission of data,
and more secure transmission of data.

The EXM/EDI Enabler P7 protocol can be configured at startup to interface
with all available 1988 X.400 P7 Message Store servers. The P7 protocol
and the Message Store, added value features of the 1988 X.400 Message
Handling standards, allow a much higher level of functionality and
flexibility than previously available. Users on a LAN can connect to the
Message Store from their desktop; remote users can access the Message
Store asynchronously via a modem. The product supports all P2 Heading
fields, and supports X.435 (Pedi) Messages. The X.400 P3 protocol is
available as an alternative for use when required to interface to a 1984
mounted file system MTA.

Using X.400 as the mail transport allows EDI information to be reliably
delivered over both connected and dial-up network environments. An
advantage of X.400 is the ability to request a (non)-delivery report,
which can be automatically correlated with the original request to tell
the sender whether a submission was successful. Users of EXM/EDI Enabler,
integrated with EXM Mail X.400 UA, gain the benefits of X.400 reliable
messaging and EDI.

Users can set specific parameters for the sending and receiving of EDI
files. EXM/EDI Enabler will then automatically recognize, route and manage
the EDI files based upon these preset criteria. EXM/EDI Enabler employs
Personality Modules to automatically identify and filter EDI messages from
other mail messages. Through the use of these Personality Modules, EXM/EDI
Enabler can convert and forward EDI messages. It can also be used in
Manual Mode, enabling the user to configure an EDI application to perform
required functions such as database update, log file access, etc.

EXM/EDI Enabler comes integrated with the EXM/UA. The product is available
now at a US list price from $120 to $450 per User Agent, depending on
quantity.
