Attain Acquires New Macintosh Contact Manager

FastPace Instant Contact Offers Direct Links to IN CONTROL Planner &
Organizer

SOMERVILLE, MA, December 20, 1994--Attain Corporation, creators of the
award-winning IN CONTROL Planner & Organizer for the Macintosh, announced
today that it has signed a letter of agreement to acquire FastPace Instant
Contact, a new Macintosh contact manager developed by Texas-based
Foresight Technology.

FastPace Instant Contact is a feature-rich, competitively-priced contact
manager for individuals and workgroups. It lets people manage over 50,000
contact records. In addition, FastPace offers direct links to IN CONTROL,
giving people automatic access to names, addresses and phone numbers,
right from IN CONTROL.

Launched in August, 1994, FastPace has received widespread industry praise
for its complete, yet powerful feature set, graceful design and affordable
price. Wrote MacWEEK magazine in an October 3, 1994 review: "FastPace
Instant Contact stands apart in the crowded PIM market by providing an
intuitive interface and powerful features at a reasonable price. Users
looking for an elegant and intuitive contact manager should consider this
product."

Attain will assume all marketing, sales, technical support and development
functions for FastPace. The acquisition of FastPace enhances Attain's
position as a leading provider of high-quality personal productivity
software.

Attain's flagship product, IN CONTROL, has consistently earned top industry
awards for helping people be more productive. It's the only personal
productivity software that combines state-of-the art calendars with a
unique project planning outliner. This focus on planning is what sets IN
CONTROL apart from ordinary calendar programs, that just offer a place to
list and schedule events and be reminded of them. The acquisition of
FastPace rounds out Attain's product offerings, increasing the firm's
value as the one-stop shop for total productivity software solutions.

First launched in early 1992, IN CONTROL won MacUser's 1992 Editors' Choice
Award for "Best Organizational Tool", and has also earned four diamonds
from MacWEEK and four stars from Macworld.

The addition of a top-notch contact manager to Attain's product line
enables the company to satisfy users' needs to combine contact management
with scheduling and project planning.

"With FastPace Instant Contact, we can now offer our customers a complete
solution for organizing and tracking their contacts," said Dan Chadwick,
Attain's co-founder and president. He continued, "It's the perfect
compliment to IN CONTROL, which people use to plan, organize and schedule
projects and events, then actively manage that information to make
decisions. Managing a contact list is an important element of the
decision-making process. "

Foresight began actively pursuing a buyer for FastPace, when it recognized
that a partnership with an established industry player would substantially
enhance the product's market potential in the crowded PIM arena. The sale
will also allow the company to focus on its primary business as a major
third-party supplier of developers' tools and database add-on products.

"We've been impressed with the success of IN CONTROL," said Rich Gay,
president of Foresight Technology. "By pooling FastPace's superior
technology with the top position IN CONTROL enjoys in the market, I'm
confident that FastPace will quickly become a major competitor," he said.

Attain has been successfully selling FastPace Instant Contact bundled with
IN CONTROL for $99.95, since October, 1994. Buyers of the bundle have also
been receiving a free copy of new Quicken 5, Intuit's best-selling finance
software.

Attain will also market FastPace Instant Contact as a stand-alone product
for the suggested selling price of $59.95. The suggested competitive
upgrade price will be $39.95. FastPace will be distributed nationally by
major software distributors and through national mail order houses,
including MacWarehouse and MacConnection.
