ALADDIN SYSTEMS' STUFFIT INSTALLERMAKER UPDATED

Watsonville, CA (December 12, 1994) -- Aladdin Systems has announced the
availability of StuffIt InstallerMaker 2.0.2, an update to the company's
easy-to-use installer program which allows software developers and product
managers to easily create custom installers for their products.
Enhancements in version 2.0.2 include drag and drop functionality for
improved ease-of use, extensive support for the Power Macintosh, and more
foreign language support.

StuffIt InstallerMaker is the turnkey system that allows software
developers, MIS directors, and network administrators to easily create
custom installers, reduce costs associated with software distribution, and
make installation fast and easy for their end users. What sets StuffIt
InstallerMaker apart from other installer programs is that it is based on
a point and click interface with integrated StuffIt compression.

StuffIt InstallerMaker 2.0.2 provides drag and drop functionality to ease
the task of maintaining installer archives. To add a file or folder to
your suite of installable items, simply drag the item from a Finder window
or from the desktop, onto an open installer archive window. To create a
copy of one or more installable items for verification or comparison
purposes, simply drag the items from the open installer archive window
into a Finder folder or window, or even onto the Macintosh desktop. This
functionality works under System 7.5. if the user also has the Macintosh
Drag and Drop and Dragging Enabler extensions installed. This drag and
drop functionality is available under System 7 Pro (7.1.1) and higher. The
Drag and Drop extensions are not included with InstallerMaker.

StuffIt InstallerMaker 2.0.2 offers extensive support for the Power
Macintosh computer, allowing developers to build powerful "smart"
installers quickly and easily for their products, while making
installation a breeze for end users. Developers can build native
installers for Power Macintoshes, "fat" installers for use on 680x0 or
Power Macintoshes, or 680x0-only installers.

StuffIt InstallerMaker 2.0.2 adds even more foreign language support. By
choosing a language from a menu, developers can convert all of an
installer's standard user interface elements for English into the language
of choice. This gives developers an easy way to develop
international-savvy installers. Localized versions of StuffIt
InstallerMaker include Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and
Swedish.

By using StuffIt InstallerMaker, developers can simply choose from a number
of pre-defined destinations for each file to be installed. Developers can
also determine what files will be installed predicated on the
configuration of the destination computer. In addition, StuffIt
InstallerMaker allows the developer to compress all the files being
installed, thereby reducing the number of distribution disks and providing
the end user with easy, one-button installation. With StuffIt
InstallerMaker, compression was designed as an integral part from the
beginning, not as an afterthought as in other installation technologies.

MPW and ResEdit are NOT required to create powerful installation programs
using StuffIt InstallerMaker. However, Aladdin does provide the ability
for developers to further customize installers by adding their own custom
code during startup, installation, and at the completion of installation.
Because of InstallerMaker's built-in features, most developers will find
that they will not need to write any custom code or use ResEdit.

Founded in 1988, Aladdin Systems, Inc., is credited with creating the
compression standard for applcations and communications for the Macintosh
platform. The company's product line includes StuffIt Deluxe and StuffIt
SpaceSaver, products which offer comprehensive solutions for compression,
translation and archiving.

Aladdin is one of the few remaining pioneers committed to the shareware and
freeware philosophy of software distribution and marketing. Their
commitment has helped garner them over 1,000,000 users worldwide. In
addition, over 1,000 software developers such as Microsoft, Claris and
Apple have licensed their money saving installation technology. For more
