Phar Lap Releases New WinHost for Visual C++ 2.0
Build Win32s Applications Under Windows 3.1

Cambridge, MA (November 14, 1994)--Phar Lap Software, Inc. today announced
the availability of WinHost for Visual C++ 2.0, a program that allows
developers to build Win32s applications under Windows 3.1. A new addition
to Phar Lap FrontRunner, a DOS desktop that integrates the Windows and DOS
environments, WinHost for Visual C++ lets developers use the Microsoft
Visual C++ 2.0 compiler and command-line tools under DOS and Windows 3.1.
The primary benefit of WinHost is that it enables developers to build
32-bit applications under their current system, without requiring them to
upgrade their hardware and software to accommodate the Windows NT
operating system.

"We built WinHost to make it easier for developers to target Win32s," said
Richard M. Smith, President of Phar Lap Software, Inc. "WinHost offers
developers who are targeting 32-bits with their choice of development
platform: DOS, Windows, or the FrontRunner DOS box."

WinHost is based on Phar Lap's TNT DOS-Extender, a 32-bit DOS extender that
runs Windows NT character-based applications under DOS.

WinHost for Visual C++ 2.0 is a separate disk that ships with Phar Lap
FrontRunner, which is a fully functional DOS box integrated into a Windows
shell. While there are a number of desktops that address the needs of
Windows users, FrontRunner has been designed to meet the needs of those
who use both DOS and Windows applications. FrontRunner's desktop enables
users to maintain a DOS screen history of up to 16,000 lines, which is
valuable to programmers running command line compilers. In addition,
FrontRunner makes it easy to cut and paste between DOS and Windows and
lets users run Windows or DOS programs from the command line. FrontRunner
also includes a customizable Launch Bar, which allows users to keep their
favorite DOS or Windows applications available at the click of a button,
and a programmable Status Bar.

Phar Lap Software, a leading supplier of protected-mode software
development tools for the Intel 386 family, delivered the first 32-bit
protected-mode toolkit for the 386 microprocessor in 1986. FrontRunner, a
DOS shell that integrates the DOS and Windows environments, was first
released in April of 1994. FrontRunner may be used by both developers and
end users.

FrontRunner with WinHost for Visual C++ 2.0 may be purchased through Phar
Lap for $139. In addition, through an exclusive joint marketing agreement
with Voyager Software of Shrewsbury, N.J., it may also be purchased
through Voyager Software for $59 with any order or upgrade of Visual C++
2.0. Voyager may be reached at (800) 445-7899. FrontRunner with WinHost is
also available through many international dealers. For further information
