U.S.NEWS & WORLD REPORT INCLUDED IN 1994 CNN TIME CAPSULE

October 31, 1994 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Expanding its ventures in new media
and electronic information products, U.S.News & World Report has partnered
with CNN to offer text, photos and graphics in the 1994 CNN Time Capsule
on CD-ROM.

The CNN Time Capsule is a multimedia yearbook produced by ViCARIOUS Inc., a
company that specializes in multimedia information and reference products.
This is the second in an award-winning series. The 1994 time capsule
vividly recaptures 100 defining moments of the year--each a
mini-documentary edited for CD-ROM by CNN's editorial staff--with actual
CNN video footage. User interface allows instant cross-referencing and
access to related articles, such as those from U.S. News. ViCARIOUS will
release a first installment of the product next month, with the first 50
moments, and offer a free upgrade to the full edition in January. For
pricing and order information, call 1-800-696-0507, Ext. 900.

U.S. News provided articles for most of the "defining moments" CNN
selected, and exclusive photographs of the late President Richard Nixon,
the late former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and D-Day battles on
Normandy. U.S. News graphics will be part of the full edition.

"As we continue to extend our magazine into the electronic media
environment, we're pleased to be a part of CNN's award-winning series,"
says Bill Allman, U.S. News new media editor. " U.S. News became available
online on CompuServe a year ago and is developing other new media
products, including our own CD-ROM that will be released next fall. "

Content from U.S. News has been on other CD-ROMs. U.S. News graphics on
space exploration are part of a CD-ROM that's soon to be released. And,
material from the magazine's annual travel guide, America's Best Vacation
Drives, and tips on mutual funds, are featured on the first two of a
regular series of CD-ROMs produced by the CompuServe Information Service.

U.S. News Online on CompuServe each week offers full text, graphics and
photos to online members, and recently introduced interactive advertising
from Saab automobiles and DeBeers diamond company. U.S.News & World
Report, serving 12.5 million readers each week, is the first national
weekly newsmagazine to join CompuServe, the leading worldwide online
information service for personal computer users, reaching nearly 2 million
members in 138 countries.
