Toronto, Canada, November 15, 1994. TechBridge Builder for OS/2, v1.1 is
now available. TechBridge Builder for OS/2 is an easy-to-use, visual tool
for the rapid development of department or enterprise-wide business
applications. This powerful visual development tool combined with an easy
scripting language brings client/server development capability to both
experienced and novice developers.

TechBridge's advanced GUI-builder connect form fields to database
atttributes with point-and-click ease, automatically creating the SQL
transparently to the programmer. Other advanced GUI-building features
include: user-defined controls, reusable controls library, color and font
palettes, tool bar, and pre-defined push buttons.

Without any coding required, the developer can visually create an advanced
OOUI (Object-Oriented User Interface) with drag-and-drop relationships
between objects. A traditional dialog-based GUI can be painted with equal
ease. Conditional icons, 3D business graphics, context-sensitive help,
and object menus can all be visually created to design the GUI as required
by the user.

SQL-intelligent objects automate the development of transactional or query
applications, eliminating the need to specify or even know SQL.

Directly supported databases include: DB2/2, Oracle and local indexed
files. Access to DB2 via DDCS/2 or to 50 additional databases through
IBI's EDA/SQL is provided.

TechBridge Builder is a framework-oriented application development tool.
Over 700 classes of the TechBridge framework, make the tool
devlopment-smart in PM, SQL, CUA and related models - such as
unit-of-work, query-by-example, and transactional update. By automating a
broad range of common tasks commonly faced by developers, TechBridge
Builder free the developer to focus on the specifics of the business
problem and simplifies development so that inexperienced developers can
create sophisticated applications.

Scripted procedural code is attached to the GUI via a simple mouse click.
TechBridge supports a streamlined, 4GL-like, dialect of COBOL. Simple 1
line scripts e.g.: "Add Dividends to Income." are normal. Object-oriented
extensions give the experienced programmer full control over the GUI
elements and the database. An integrated incremental compiler with full
debug capability is provided.

The developer can test both visual and non-visual aspects of his
application quickly and incrementally from within each designer.

The developers workplace includes an automated application packager for
deployment. A run-time is required, but is royalty free.

Openness features include: SQL editor for composing specific queries and an
ability to call a user-specified DLL.

The TechBridge Builder development environment runs on an 8M Warp system or
a 12M OS/2 2.1 system. 10M of free disk space is required. There are no
software pre-requisites, but several product features require and SQL
database such as DB2/2 to be available.
