Following the recent ratification of the International Telecommunications
Union's (ITU) V.34 specification, Rockwell Telecommunications announced it
has shipped 250,000 V.34-compliant data/fax/voice modems. Rockwell's new
V.34 devices will enable modem manufacturers to provide their customers
with cost-effective, high-speed modem solutions that communicate with the
emerging base of V.34 modems, as well as the installed base of one million
V.Fast Class (V.FC) modems on the market today.

Rockwell's initial product offerings, the RC288DPi single-package data pump
and RC288ACi integrated modem solution, are pin-for-pin and
backward-compatible with Rockwell's V.Fast Class (V.FC) products, allowing
modem manufacturers ease in migrating to the recently ratified standard.

RC288DPi PRODUCT FEATURES

Housed in a single 68-pin PLCC, the RC288DPi data pump implements
transmission rates from 28.8Kbps to 2.4Kbps in 2400 bps increments.
Operating over the public switched telephone network, the modem satisfies
ITU (formerly the CCITT) recommendations from V.34 and V.32bis down to
V.23, while supporting transparent communication with all V.FC-based
modems. The data pump also satisfies V.21 international standards and
supports the Bell 212 and 103 specifications for the U.S. Facsimile
functions support Group 3 send/receive transmission speeds from 14.4Kbps
down to 2.4Kbps and meet CCITT V.17 recommendations.

RC288ACi PRODUCT FEATURES

The RC288ACi integrated modem solution consists of the data pump (RC288DPi)
connected to the host computer by a V.24 serial interface and a Rockwell
microcontroller. Controller firmware performs all basic modem functions
including enhanced AT commands.

The device sets support V.42/MNP 2-4 error correction, V.42bis/MNP 5 data
compression, EIA/TIA 578 Class 1 /2 and T.30 facsimile protocol. With
optimum line conditions, the RC288ACi with error correction and data
compression can support data throughputs as high as 115.2 Kbps. As a
Rockwell World-Class modem, the device has the feature set necessary for
worldwide applications including call progress and blacklisting, callback
security, remote configuration mode and multiple-country support.

Production of both products began following V.34 ratification. Pricing for
10K quantities is as follows: RC288DPi -- $67; RC288ACi -- $79.50. For
