NEW GENERATION DSP VOICE CARDS

OCTOBER 5, 1994 -- PIKA Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce the
release of its latest low density voice card series for IBM PC and
compatibles. The PIKA InLINE Series are state of the art MVIP compatible
voice processing cards for the ISA (AT) bus. Based on Digital Signal
Processor technology, these latest cards provide two (2) or four (4)
analog line interfaces, an MVIP compatible bus, external MIC/Monitor port,
PIKA V-Engine DSP expansion and built-in caller identification at no extra
cost.

"The PIKA InLINE Series is a true break-through in cost effective, high
functionality voice processing" says Peter Karneef President at PIKA
Technologies. "The highly innovative design of the InLINE Series combines
PIKA's recent DSP and analog technological innovations in the high density
V-12 Voice Engine with PIKA's well known cost effective approach to low
density voice processing peripherals. "

SCALEABLE DSP TECHNOLOGY

The PIKA InLINE Series performs all basic audio processing with the
standard an on-board DSP56156 digital signal processor. The card family
also supports highly advanced signal processing requirements by direct
connection to PIKA's digital signal processor V-Engine module, the VE/2
and VE/4. This added functionality will allow the InLINE Series to utilize
DSP power scaleable from 30 to 150 MIPS, providing virtually unlimited
'horsepower' for advanced multi-tasking such as speech recognition and
text to speech conversion.

ADVANCED FUNCTIONALITY

Boasting highly advanced functionality, the PIKA InLINE Series cards are
based on a DSP design with scaleable Digital Signal Processing capability,
Universal tone detection, LOOP or GROUND START line connections, MVIP bus
connection, P3 connection, LINE/MICROPHONE input (channel software
selectable) and MONITOR output (channel software selectable).

A unique telecom line interface circuit allows the on-board DSP to perform
ON-HOOK audio processing for Caller Identification (CLASS) compatibility.
Caller identification functionality is included in the cards at no extra
cost.

The DSP also supports port to port switching, multi-party conferencing,
tone and volume control, variable audio sampling rate and Fast
Forward/Rewind audio playback.

The InLINE series maintains PIKA's concept of not using system memory
space, and supporting user selectable address and interrupt level.

INDUSTRY STANDARD BUS EXPANSION

The InLINE provides an MVIP compatible digital expansion bus connector and
an industry standard 'P3' analog expansion bus for connection to
compatible devices.

This digital expansion bus capability allows the InLINE cards to connect
directly to other PIKA cards such as the high density V-12 analog
interfaces cards, or third party MVIP compatible devices such as T-1 E-1
cards.

INDUSTRY STANDARD SOFTWARE SUPPORT

To maintain an easy upgrade path for existing developers, the InLINE Series
is fully software compatible with the popular PIKA AVA-B series and the
V-12 series, requiring no modification to application software for basic
operation.

The PIKA InLINE hardware can be supplied with a DOS, Windows, NT, OS/2 and
QNX development tools for software developers.

A CHOICE OF CONFIGURATIONS

The PIKA InLINE Series cards are half size, XT height and can be used in
either 8-bit or 16-bit ISA slots. The cards are available in two and four
line configurations.

The InLINE-4SE is a basic voice card, which can be expanded economically
with up to two InLINE-4SE analog interface cards, providing the most cost
effective 12 port configuration in the industry.

The InLINE-4GT provides advanced audio processing capabilities, features
MVIP compatible switching and conferencing, pulse compatibility, CLASS
signal detection and more. More Advanced signal processing applications
are supported by 'piggy-back' add-on PIKA V-Engine DSP modules.

The InLINE-4M provides licensed connectivity with MITEL SUPERSWITCH PBXs
through SUPERSET 4 telephone compatible ports.

APPLICATIONS

Applications for the PIKA InLINE cards include Voice mail, Automated
Attendants, Interactive voice response systems, Voice alarm systems,
Predictive Dialers, Audio Logging systems, Conferencing systems and
Client-Server Networks.
